Anybody here heard about this release? Could it be the O2 show at last?

    November 8.

That's the 40th anniversary of Led Zeppelin IV. Hmm....

A friend of mine in the business emailed me a new release sheet. It just states Led Zeppelin live Album CD/DVD 8 November. I was hoping someone here would have more details. Something like this would be hard to keep under wraps I would imagine.

You may just be a little too much ahead of the curve for your own good! If it isn't repackaging something previous, I'm sure you're right, the news will be hitting the internet very soon.

Any idea about the record label? If it's Atlantic or Rhino or any Warner company, then it should be something good.

It might be one of those corny Rock Review or Inside Led Zeppelin bootleg videos re-packaged.

Would be a darned good reason to dust off those 6-tracks of 9/29/71, wouldn't it??

There have been rumblings all year about the O2 reunion from 2007 finally getting a release this year so I would have to say that must be what it is. (Unless Jimmy Page has finally decided to open up the vaults!)

You could be right, especially as no news has leaked our about this. Hard to imagine as it is due in just over a month's time.

Lotta chatter either way. If something IS released, it'll be the 02 DVD/CD. Fans are gonna buy it anyway, no matter if it's a late press release or not. And that's still 5 weeks notice that it's coming -- in this day and age you don't need to get your release out as quickly.

I just sent an e-mail via Facebook to Dave Lewis. I did not see anything on the "Tight But Loose" website.

If there really is going to be some kind of fall release, it is most likely the O2 show.

I'm 99.99% certain this will be the o2 release because I know for a fact they were working on it at least up to end of August and there was information that it would be out in time for the X-mass buying period.

However I knew they were working on a DVD/Blu-ray but not a cd but I think the CD will be of the o2 show.

Does anyone have a link or is this just heard it from a friend?

I'll ask around though just in case.

The only thing I can find online that's scheduled to happen on November 8 is a tribute band called Led Zeppelin 2 playing House Of Blues in Las Vegas that night.

yeah, the only thing that happens if the news gets out early these days is that your album appears on a bunch of torrents and free download sites that much faster....

I don't know about you but I'd be a million times more excited for a '69 - '77 Led Zeppelin live release over the 02 show. With CDs and physical format in rapid decline and groups like Pink Floyd and the Rolling Stones (who traditionally never released what they deemed as imperfect music from the vault - live or alt takes) finally releasing what fans have been clamoring for for 20+ years, maybe Led Zep has finally come around. I hope so.

Absolutely. There are still some great live tracks from that period suitable for a CD release. And clearly, there is studio material available to augment possible "deluxe" versions of some of the studio albums. I don't see it happening, but the potential is there.

Though I would buy an official O2 show release without hesitation, what you brought up is of an even higher priority to me.

My main concern about an O2 CD release is what the mastering will be like. If it is anything like the remastered Song Remains the Same or Mothership, I may have to pass. :sigh:

Although I don't know specifically who did the mastering on this CD I am fairly certain it is not Kevin Shirley who did TSRTS. So there is a chance it might be better.

My main concern is that the performance wasn't very good. A friend of mine has an "unofficial" DVD that we watched together a couple of years ago, & the band was pretty sloppy. Plus, without Bonham, it's just not Led Zeppelin to me. As big of a fan as I am, this would be as easy pass for me.
