I did a quick search and didn't see a thread for this yet, and it's only a couple of months away so I figured we could get the hype train started!

This year it's on Saturday, April 16.

So far the list of exclusive releases has only been announced for the UK:

    http://www.recordstoreday.co.uk/exclusive-product.aspx

Keep in mind that more stuff will probably be added as we get closer to the actual date. Some of it will also be for the US, some of it won't, we'll just have to wait and see.

I think the record store employees at CD Warehouse take all the shirts as soon as they come in...so there's none left for the rest of us.

At least that's what I heard/understood from a conversation from them.

The only things really standing out to me are the Jenny & Johnny/ Gram Parsons & Emmylou Harris 7" and the new Panda Bear LP on clear vinyl, assuming both come to the US. Still, I'm sure there's more to come.

The one thing I know I want so far is the Superchunk/Coliseum split 7" of Misfits covers. Of course, considering how obnoxious RSD was last year I might just pass on it.

    From the list:

"Busdriver 7" (Polyvinyl, Limited to 50)"

Oh COME ON, that is just ridiculous! Glad I'm not a fan of that band.

    Why 78 rpm?!?!

And does this indicate....no, I won't say it....

I want to pick up the "Foggy Notion" Velvet Underground 45 from Sundazed.

Wow, there's actually a LOT of stuff on there I would buy. I hope most of it makes it to the USA!

Ozzy is now the official spokesman for RSD 2011.

I hate to be the grumpy old man but...that's nice and all, but I think the US website needs a list of releases a lot more than who the "spokesman" is, unless ol' Ozzy's gonna shake my hand for supporting my local indepedent record store!

Yeah I'm sorry but putting out a 78rpm release is, to me, just blatant collector/eBay flipper pandering rather than putting it out for collectibility and ALSO the music.

Yep, it's to make sure it remains in "mint unplayed" condition.

Well, until some doofus destroys it on their POS Crosley turntable (most of them have 78rpm) that they picked up at Target.

Sorry, I didn't mean to insinuate that anyone on here uses a Crosley. I doubt anyone does. I know there are good turntables with 78rpm, I just think most of us that are in to vinyl don't have one.

May be a coincidence that both tracks have :) connections.....

78rpm. Weird. Any guesses as to what this will be (over)priced at? $20? $30?

okay nevermind the fact that its the beach boys. that alone would make me buy it, and so would the fact that a new 78 rpm by ANY artist was being released. this is AWESOME. i am so stoked  good thing my local record store is gonna let me in early with my VIP card. although, im sure most would pass on the 78 anyway since they cant play it. god please let them be 12" 78s... with all analog mastering *drools*

I wonder if they'll be widegroove? Not that i would mind either way.

The Beach Boys' "Good Vibrations"/"Heroes and Villains" will be released as a limited edition double 78RPM vinyl single set with the songs' original single release mixes on one disc and alternate versions of both songs on the other disc.

Looks like I just dug out this old turntable, just in time (Photo 1)

Of course, if that one fails me, I've always got this one (Photo 2)

I'd like to be in for Phish, but RSD is such a farce, I'm not even going to get involved this year. It will never make sense to me why they try to encourage business to local record shops by leaving so many people frustrated and feeding crazy sales on eBay by people who went out to buy stuff just to gauge other consumers. A good idea gone terribly wrong.
