Gosh that's a tough one but right now I think I'll go with:

    "The Unutterable" by The Fall

I will double that vote for Love and Theft. What lasts is timelessness. Dylan is pretty darn good at that from time to time.

Anybody know how the vinyl sounds on the Love and Theft?

I will place a vote for The White Stripes Elephant .

I like Love & Theft, and I'm a big Dylan fan, but it strikes me as one of those albums that we're all supposed to love just because it covers a lot of genres. Song for song, I'd much rather listen to Oh Mercy.

    My Top 5 would be:

    5) Clap Your Hands, Say Yeah -- s/t
    4) Joe Strummer & the Mescaleros -- Streetcore
    3) Stephen Malkmus -- Face the Truth
    2) Guided by Voices -- Isolation Drills
    1) Brian Wilson -- Smile

Yeah, hard to argue that one. There'd have to be something REALLY good to compete with that monster.

I might be going out on a limb here, but...... "Gorillaz". A perfect return to form of all types of music, gathering together and grooving with a..... oh, never mind.

    The Strokes "Is This It"

    I also very much like
"Building Something Out of Nothing" which compiles 90s singles from Modest Mouse but that is kidna cheating.

I think Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is very good.

BUT my favorite records from the past 10 years came out just too early to qualify:
The Soft Bulletin and my avatar.

Based purely on number of plays...

Tool - Lateralus (10,000 Days has a few hundred more plays to kick Lateralus)

    or

    Radiohead - OK Computer

I second that; with "Love and Theft," "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot," and "Moon Safari" as follow-ups. Most recent "best record" would be "Pocket Revolution."

OK Computer came out in 1997. Kid A's a Top 10er though.
