Not to threadcrap on your threadcrap, but it's not a good idea to comment on mastering you havent' actually heard with your own ears.

FWIW, I just bought the Stan Ricker cut 180g LP of American Idiot (the one that just came out) and it sounds great.

And it's a fine album, too, certainly not deserving of the sloppily-delivered derision being thrown its way here.

My top three- Dylan's "Love & Theft", Allman Brothers Band's "Hittn' the Note", and Steely Dan's "Two Against Nature"- in that order.

Matt Elliott, The Mess We Made -- just imminently listenable.

Bunch o' others: Matt Elliott, The Mess We Made; Porcupine Tree, Lightbulb Sun; Sigur Rós, (); Neon Golden by the Notwist; Einstürzende Neubauten's Silence is Sexy; Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds' Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus.

...and it may be the folly of novelty, but I love Camille's Le Fil.

This is a great list, and it goes a long way to show that there are still a few bands out there making vital music.

    Yikes, forgot the glorious...

    Sonic Youth - Murray Street

Sonic Nurse is actually just about as good, but Murray Street gets the nod.

I'm a little amazed that a non-Tull album snuck into your top 5. I guess it's a good thing that Glenn Cornick didn't release a solo album in the decade. :D

    Holy crow!

I don't know how I managed to leave one of my favorite albums of all time off this list.

For me, easily the best album of the decade so far:

The Libertines - Up The Bracket. Simply put, it's the real thing. Though I will stipulate that the follow-up S/T is better recorded (Bill Price engineered that one).
