Welcome to the theoretical British Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame (TTBRNRHOF) YEAR FIVE!

Feel free to hit the links for an explanation and background.

In year Four, we had another killer bunch of nominees, so naturally a few of those killer nominees didn't quite make it. But, of course, The Who did. Also, Mr. Leitch, The Moody Blues and The Small Faces. It's great to see a relatively-cult-fave like The Small Faces do so well. Close but no cigar for The Spencer Davis group (37.04%), John Mayall (23.70%), Them (21.48%) and Manfred Mann (20.74%). They will all get another shot this year.

So far, this is who's in:

    The Kinks (95.59%)
    The Beatles (89.37%)
    The Who (86.67%)
    The Rolling Stones (85.85%)
    The Yardbirds (82.35%)
    The Animals (81.62%)
    The Hollies (70.75%)
    The Zombies (66.18%)
    Dusty Springfield (59.43%)
Cliff Richard & The Shadows (58.45%)
    Donovan (54.07%)
    The Moody Blues (52.59%)
    The Dave Clark Five (49.76%)
    Lonnie Donegan (48.79%)
    The Small Faces (45.19%)
    The Searchers (44.34%)
    Gerry and The Pacemakers (43.40%)

And from year one when we had double the number of inductees:

    Petula Clark (30.92%)
    Alexis Korner (29.95%)
    Joe Meek (28.02%)
Johnny Kidd & the Pirates (20.77%)

In year Five we introduce a few new faces of 1966. The talent's a tad thinner (more select?) this year, so we've got quite a few good-uns that didn't quite make it last year, and it's the third time round for Them, Manfred Mann and The Pretty Things. This might be your last chance lads!

So, once again, thanks for taking part. Please VOTE and COMMENT and help keep this thing active and vibrant!!!

Chris Farlowe was another worthy representative of the Immediate label and was included on their magic sampler LP Immediate Let's You In.

The comparative lack of favour for Manfred Mann intrigues me - they were very big in Britain for both EMI and Fontana.

Cat Stevens did the superb Matthew & Son - very different back then, and noticeably excellent sound.

John Mayall should have been in there already.

This was pretty tough as some real faves of mine are on here. But, I simply could not vote for:

The Creation. Pretty much the coolest band on the planet in '66.
Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich. One of my favourite singles bands of the era.
Roy Harper. Kind of a genius.
The Incredible string band. The folk Beatles. These guys should be as famous as Hendrix.
    The Move. Nuff said.
    The Pretty Things. Nuff said.

    Oops. That's six. :hide:

Herman's Hermits, with a string of over a dozen strong pop hits, should be in by now.

I voted for Cream, Incredible String Band, Tom Jones, Manfred Mann and the Move.

I'm glad to see Tom Jones doing well in the early voting, one of the best male Welsh vocalist this generation!

Ho Ho...I snuck a sixth vote in for The New Vaudeville Band!:D

I'm a sucker for a bit of kitschy nonsense and do enjoy their stuff!

I gave Dave Dee & Co. a vote as well as their run of singles from '66-'68 were truly poptastic! Similarly The Troggs.

Finally gave the Manfreds a vote as on on balance I think I prefer their Fontana period to the Paul Jones stuff (but both are great).

Had to give Cream a vote as I'm a terrible blues guitar player and can but dream!

  10. In no particular order...I poll busted & voted for the eight who I thought deserved it so much, that I couldn't not vote for them...

    Cream
    Roy Harper
    The Incredible String Band
    Bert Jansch
    The Move
    The Pretty Things
    Cat Stevens
    Them

Yes! DDDBM&T are still mostly unknown in the States, which is a real shame.

The Troggs are amazing and should be taken more seriously. I forget to vote for them, but that would have meant 7 votes!

Agreed all round. I especially love the D'Abo period Manfreds.

They only got 19.85% of the vote in year three I'm afraid.

But for me their strongest album was Five Faces of Mann on HMV. They had an incredible ability to rock which never really seemed to surface during their Fontana years.

Cream were to produce what would be my all time favourite live album side with Crossroads and Spoonful from Wheels of Fire, which sounds at its best by a mile on the DCC gold.

    Some I could not vote for, 'cause I don't know 'e :)

John's Children should be good, given the name, but the only thing I ever heard was Smashed, blocked, so I can't vote for them either.:D

Legendary bad/non-band! But, they're on the list for the Marc Bolan connection and at least "Desdemona" is a killer track!

Showing my true (folk/jazz) colors again:

    Jansch!
    Roy Harper
    ISB
    John Mayall
    Cream

Loving these polls, btw, even if my beloved folkies (and the architects of late 60s/70s classic rock, if truth be told) aren't doing all that well.

I'm with you. I'll have to have a few "cult" artiste only rounds to compensate...

Talking of Iron Maiden, I've been wondering how long I can keep this up before the talent goes away, or at least, thins out...

Looks like my buddies The Move just might make it. Need Manfred Mann to get in also.

37% isn't quite enough to make it, methinks. But...it's not over yet. (They got my vote!)
