Well, it always bugged me that the White Album had to be on 2 CDs - so I took off three tracks and now it fits. I can listen to it all the way through minus 3 songs I never cared for.

    Took off - Revolution #9
    Sexy Sadie
Why Don't We Do It In The Road

And I may make an alternate version - not sure which songs to take off, but I want to add Revolution (fast) and Hey Jude .... and make it fit on one disc.

Sexy Sadie??? Are you enjoying Don't Pass Me By?

Grant Life is a rock, but the radio rolled me!

I agree with taking off "Revolution #9", and maybe "Sexy Saide", but "Why Don't We Do It In The Road"? That one's essential! I'd rather jettison something like "Piggies' or "Blackbird". :hide:

Couldn't ever drop tunes from The White Album. The running order of that masterpiece is forever engraved in my happy little head.

Just take off Revolution 9 and 2 and replace them with "Hey Jude" and the "Revolution" single version. I like to use the Anthology versions of "Sexy Sadie" and "Cry Baby Cry" for my own little "white-ER albums" but that's just me.

Wow..."Sadie" would be about the last song I'd drop from the list.

During the anthology series while speaking of the idea to have condensed the material to fit on one lp, George Martin was sitting in a chair holding a notepad which I can't help but think were his titles & sequencing order. Would love to know what those were. :)

"The most emotionally wrenching piece of musique concrete I've ever heard is The Beatles Revolution 9 in "The White Album", a brilliant collage of orchestras, voices, backwards tapes, and that infamous disembodied voice repeating " number nine" over and over (Capitol 46443, 2 CD). It's an unsettling kaleidoscope of the heightened emotions of 1968, a direct stylistic descendant of Orpheus , that no contemporary music fan should miss . . ."
Richard S. Ginell (with assistance from David McIntire) from "Classical Music The Listener's Companion", Backbeat Books 2002.

This quote is in the context of the book's section on classical electronic music. Like it or not, "Revolution #9" is the most unique feature of "The White Album".

Doesn't Sir Paul have some pertinent remark concerning attempts to "fix" the White Album?

Me too, esp. if it was the mono version. That track will flip your noodle...

Every second of Revolution 9 is brilliant. I cannot imagine the White Album without it.

I really like "Revolution #9" too, but to me it is out of place with conventional songs as found on the White Album. It would have been better placed in a separate lp with their other avant-garde and expirimental outings like the fabled "Carnival Of Light" and "What's The New Mary Jane". That would have left the White Album with room for "Not Guilty", and with some reshuffling, the bits that were chopped off of "Helter Skelter", "Sexy Sadie" and a few others.

I'd rather have dentistry without anesthesia than hear "What's The New Maryjane" ever again.

I put Revolution, Revolution 2 and Revolution 9 all on one disc. It's quite revolutionary! :D

As to the White album, I toyed with the idea a while back to get it all on one disc, but could never decide on what to leave off. I pretty much like it the way it is I guess.

How about buying some 90 minute cdr's and leave Revolution #9 off.

Without "Revolution #1" and "Revolution #9" it fits perfectly.

Inspired by this thread I "fixed" ABBEY ROAD; took off those two pesky George Harrison songs and that annoying Lennon opener.

    Thanks.
