Hopefully my local Best Buy will have them all in stock on Tuesday, including the compilation 50 Big Ones. Otherwise, I'll just order them online.

They only have one version of the album (the retail versions contain stereo/mono for most)

Best buy online has them for $9.99 with free shipping!!!!

Thought I would repost this for those that may have missed it from aoxomoxoa.

Sorry if this has been covered upthread, but did they redo the stereo mix of "Wouldn't It Be Nice" to include a better "extraction" of Mike's bridge vocal?

So I ordered Smiley Smile, Surfin USA & Today. I have all the twofers so is there anything else I should get? Is Sunflower any good?

    Yes.

    So is SURF'S UP.

They're the best-sounding CDs of both albums, IMO. By a mile.

You should probably get Summer Days, I'm hearing good things (mostly).
Sunflower is a great album, but I'm not sure there's a huge difference between the new issue and the old twofer.

I expect my order from Deep Discount to arrive soon since the shipping notification came last Friday.

Meanwhile, I got a sealed UK pressing 2-CD set of Today/Summer Days, and a USA two-fer of Surfin' Safari/Surfin' USA all for the princely sum of $6.56. I hadn't remembered that some of these were HDCD encoded so I considered this a lagniappe.

Just came across the new version of "Isn't it Time" on iTunes, surprised to see that it comes with three live tracks recorded on this summer's tour in Chicago: "California Girls" "Do it Again" and "Sail on Sailor", the samples sound great...hope we get more (though I'm assuming they were touched up a bit)

Summer Days, Sunflower and Surfer Girl are mandatory, in my opinion.

In general, yes. But if he has the twofers of all these albums, SD might be sufficient for him. Personally I'm getting them all, despite the fact that I have numerous other versions of the albums - but then again, I'm a BB fanatic. ;)

Well, if he has the two-fers he doesn't really NEED any of them! :D

Well, I NEED the mono and stereo versions. But my question is the mastering bad, good or just ok? Is sunflower an upgrade?

The new Greatest Hits 2012 comes in a jewel case (I saw it yesterday). Not flimsy cardboard like the other 2012 remaster/reissues.

Just noticed now how many of their album titles start with the letter S. Can't wait to pick a few of these up.

Just picked up the new 2 disc 50 song Greatest Hits set at my local CD store. Very nice packaging. Thought I'd put a couple of pictures up. I thought I'd get that as a sampler of the new remasters and have ordered Smiley Smile and Summer Nights from Best Buy.

I'll give the new set a listen and see how it sounds soon.

What about Surfer Girl led you to this opinion?

The packaging looks wonderful. If I had money to still buy new releases I'd pick this one up. I'm a sucker for CDs that a singles label replicas, and the other stuff looks real interesting as well.

But....I hate to mention it, but does anyone else think, on the grey I-assume-it's a slipcover/box pictured...that the combination of the stylized H of Beach and the B of Boys, combined with the two circles on the "50" at the bottom of them, make it kind of look like a....well, nevermind. Maybe it's a hidden Mike Love reference (kidding, kidding)..:D
