Can't wait! I'm going to see Ian in Oct. in Philly area.
Today (10th) is his 62nd birthday.

Same tour as Bursting Out? Are audio tracks 15 & 16 different than 11 & 12?

Great news. I wish these older Tull concerts would be released on blu-ray as well.

I know that old video is old video, but in general, I think the Who blu-rays (e.g., Isle of Wight) are (slightly) improved over their DVD counterparts.

Different bass player. John Glascock was either seriously ill or resting in peace. Otherwise, pretty much the same as Bursting Out. A great period for Tull. I'm all over this.

Tony Williams subbed for Glascock on this fall '78 U.S. tour. Glascock came back for the spring '79 tour but had to leave during the Stormwatch sessions after that, and died a few months later.

Incredible Thick as a Brick! Ian looks fantastic in his crazy man Renaissance garb! :righton: Not to nitpick but I do wish this was the whole show...maybe it is but it seems a little short judging by the set list.

But, this is some classic Tull! Cannot wait to get it!

Is this being released in the U.S. or just as an import?

  14. I agree, but Tull were still in first rate form in 1978. I caught the Boston Garden Show of this tour and it remains a favorite to this date. I will snatch-up this release.:)

Cool. I didn't know they were *that* good that year.

  16. Check out their live double LP set Bursting Out for a cheap (very easy to find on the used market) introduction to their live act of vintage '78: jam-packed with highly exciting music and several funny word introductions by IA!

I believe folks on other sites have said there was no pro live recording of Tull from 1972 or 1973, and probably not from 1974 either since they only toured briefly that year. From 1975 there is the Paris show used briefly on the 25th anniversary set. My guess is that Ian wasn't happy with the rest.

  18. Wasn't this MSG gig said to be the first ever satellite broadcast of a full concert? Really wonder how come it took EMI THAT LONG to release this...

Yeah, too tough. Those years would be priceless. 1978 was an awesome year too, though.

Must have Heavy Horses these days.

This is all very good news! What a great show! :righton:

Ian has been very hesitant releasing any archive material on DVD himself, so it's nice that somebody is doing the job! Live in Germany wasn't Ian project either.

 Of course, we're still awaiting official confirmation of this. Ian Anderson is always the last to know or tell. (slight joke)
