Just found the news below at soundgenerator.com. I have to say, if true, this is very good news for me, although I could live without the [largely useless to me] new greatest hits. Considering what it leaves off its not very "ultimate" at all. Now if only these were all SACD or 5.1 as well! Still... excellent news! :)

Looks like the great Eurythmics fan site www.ethrill.net has been reactivated! Theres heaps of news over there about the remasters and more - looks like we might get a bunch of Eurythmics VHS releases on DVD before Christmas, and also new official websites for Annie and for Eurythmics in the next month or so.
Meanwhile below Im going to attempt to include an image by SonyBMG of promos for the remasters! This shows all the bonus tracks etc and means that I officially cant wait! Sweet dreams indeed! :D

Sounds great! Do we know who'll be in charge of mastering, though?

I'm surprised to see the "modern" RCA logo (last used on RCA CDs around 1986/87) reappear on those In the Garden and Peace promos.

colinu I'm not lazy, I'm energy saving!

On the track listing sheets above, it says that the discs are copy protected. If this is the case on the commercial release, I ain't buying!

Forget what you see on the advanced promos with respect to copy protection, logo style, etc. The only thing you can _probably_ count on is the actual track listing.

MOST advanced promos from the major labels now come with copy protection, watermarking, or both (and appear as CD-Rs, not pressed CDs). This has no relation to the actual product.

Yup... thats the reason I dont think I will be buying it. Theres really nothing apart from the two new songs on there for me. The fact that it doesnt include anything at all from the WE TWO ARE ONE album doesnt help. That said, I do like the new single! :) I think they should have done a two disc set - but with everything else coming up I suppose this was inevitable. Its not really designed for fans like me, but for Joe Average, just to bring the name into the public view again.

So are we to assume that "Essential Eurythmics" is still somewhere in the future?

I'm curious as to how these will compare to the original RCA versions which sound perfect to me.

Agreed. Decent dynamics, and a pretty flat eq. Should be interesting.

They may try to "bring the sound into the 21st century".

I hope Sony BMG recruited a reputable mastering engineer like Vic Anesini to handle the job. In the worst scenario, we should buy the original RCA discs now, while they're still available.

Too bad the soundtrack to "1984" isn't included among the remasters. Very dark and underrated and in my opinion, their best work.

Yeah Revival was a pretty good tune. I think they should have had a 2 disc set also!! It's about time, and they had enough output!
and they never include I Love to Listen to Beethoven, which to me was one of their rather good (if strange and obscure) singles.

Nope. Theyve never been remastered before. These are the same remasters. They were originally supposed to be released last year, then they were postponed several times then pulled at the last minute.
I heard that it was due to the merger of Sony and BMG and Dave Stewart didnt want the remasters to come out without the right kind of company backup etc. so they were pulled.
I just cant wait for these! Should be great.

As far as surround mixes of Eurythmics go, while the music would certainly be a great candidate, it's a bit unlikely. I read (about twenty years ago) that Dave and Annie layed down extra vocal parts while they mixed down quite frequently in the early days. So those parts wouldn't appear on the multis.

I would think that most people that are interested in them would have them by now. The LPs sound quite good as well, but there are a ton of bonus tracks to be had! If yourmusic.com gets the box, I might be tempted to take the plunge.

I agree that the Eurithmics deserve a 2 disc set. There are plenty of top notch tracks that could easily fill a 2cd set! The only one of their singles that I don't like is "Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves" or whatever it is called. I always skip that one.

1984 is worth it for the track 'Julia' alone. A forgotten gem.

It's the third most important album in their entire catalog; I can't understand why they would leave it out of the remaster series.
