The soul compilation will fill a lot of holes in my collection. Plus there's lots of titles that I don't know, which always gets my interest. Looks good! Thanks for the notice.

What kind of distribution will this be(Local, nationwide)? When can we expect to see this in stores(Circuit City, Worst Buy, Newbury Comics)?

I would love the late 60's comp!!!

    Where in Mass are you?

I'm wondering if the "Whiter Shade Of Pale" is the original version in a new stereo mix, or the alternate version in stereo released a few years ago.

It's a new stereo mix of the original version.

Two more to look forward to in November. It's going to be a busy month for listening. I'll get both...

    Hi Tom,

I look forward to checking these out in order to hear what you and Mark have done. A few comments...

    Nice inclusion on this set!

This will be interesting. One my Soul "favs" from 1967.

I hope this mix retains the body of the "hit" mix.

    All nice inclusions.

Unedited intro - right? I have heard this - I like it.

45 version?, fade down difference?

All the Stereo mixes I have heard have no body. They sound weak in comparison to the "hit" mix.

The Stereo mix is pretty easy to locate. The Mono "hit" mix would have been nice.

Pretty sizable hit in the heartland of the U.S. Nice inclusion.

These mixes will be interesting to hear.

    Bob :)

Some good obscure stuff and much-needed stereo and, as usual, not nearly enough mono, and I'm with Bob, with "Mendocino" the mono mix is The One......

Still, as long as you were conservative with the NR, Tom, I'm sure they're both winners! :edthumbs: ;)

Cool, I'm looking forward to these being released. I've been wondering for years if that version of "Soul & Inspiration" could be had anywhere. OUr local oldies station has played it many times in the past. The intro on that version is that brief instrumental part that comes right before the spoken passage at the bridge if I remember correctly. And with "Whiter Shade Of Pale" I wonder did they actually find the missing multitrack tape with the released version? Or did they take the alternate take and edit it to match the 45?

    :goodie:  :goodie:

    Thanks, Tom, for the news!

Question: I've wondered if the original 7" single of "You're The One" was in mono. Does the stereo mix on this new CD sound especially wide or narrow?

You are correct in your assessment of "Soul and Inspiration," but "Whiter Shade of Pale" is the hit version in stereo, achieved using the available "stage tapes."

Some things on "Bend Me, Shape Me" have been moved around a bit, and for once the song plays at the same pitch as the mono 45 rpm single. Don't ask me why, but no one's gotten the speed right on this one yet (45 plays faster).

As for "Mendocino," I had no choice over which mix was being supplied to me. ERIC Records believes most of its customers prefer stereo over mono, so that's what's ordered from the vaults. Somewhere around here, I have an original Smash 45. I'll have to dig it out and give it a spin.

The 45 was definitely sped up, yes. Thanks!

Tom, you will like the Mono "hit" mix in comparison. I do understand the situation. Unfortunately, the Stereo mix is not one of those good ones...

    Bob :)

Great Job Tom! PLEASE keep the NOISE REDUCTION at a minimum. Some great titles...who did the remixes?

Wow! Great tracks. I picked up a copy of the "Things I'd Like To Say" 45 at a garage sale a few weeks ago. I've been playing it over and over since. Can't wait to pick up these CDs.

You don't rate it Bob, but I do!

Mendocino was on Hits Of The World 1968-69, Polyphon - one of the 25 or so CDs I bought on an otherwise disasterous holiday in Schleswig Holstein...

I simply couldn't stop playing it when I got home - I love it, and the ADD remix. I'm looking forward to hearing it on this disc... :)

Ox :bone: sat musing to himself about Andrea as he listens to The Corrs - In Blue DVD-A :agree:

ADD? When was "Mendocino" remixed? It has been re-recorded, but don't remember anyone remixing it....

You're oh-so-right and I'm oh-so-wrong - it's ADD alright, but not remixed! PolyGram 846 586-2 mastered by Dennis M. Drake. It still sounds pretty good to me! :)

    Hi Tom,

These CDs are going to be released on my birthday, along with that Beatles box. They are all going to be a nice birthday present to myself!

I just do not like original Stereo mix as compared to the "hit" mix. Great track though. I have never heard the re-mix.

    Bob :)
