IMO even Steve's great mastering will not make me like the single Yucki thump! from the WS's.

. . . but will your not liking it, make me like it even more? Guess I'll have to wait until I hear it.

They have been playing the single (not Steve's version) for a few weeks and you haven't heard it? Mastering will not save bad music.

My elephant vinyl promo sounds very similar to my cd

I think it's a great 'analog' sounding cd that for the most part seems to have escaped the loudness war (there's some limiting on 7 nation army).

Nah, I haven't had the radio on in months. I liked their last album a lot though, so I'm keen to hear the new one. Doesn't mean it won't suck, but that's true with anything.

I like the new single. I only heard it once but it was instantly familiar yet fresh. It rocked hard! (Compared to most albums released up to now (this year) this is going to be a big deal for Rock fans)

I like the single (Icky Thump). To each their own I guess.

Uk or US vinyl? As I understand it the Uk vinyl sound like crap and the US are the one to get.

This is what Steve said about what he felt the CD sounded like.

The title track rocks, imo. Freaky, heavy, unleashed rock! Almost jumped out of my chair the first time I heard it. Jack White is just so loose and spontaneous (and brilliant).....you get the feeling he can do whatever the hell he wants, and dominate.

I got a 12" 45rpm of the single and I like it. I agree that it rocks and feels nice and loose. And the sound on this single is not to be believed. Drums should always sound so good!

Us huh? My promo is from XL, I guess that makes it uk? Well the search is on for a us version then, and if it's good the promo will probably be headed for ebay :)

Still...perhaps we can find out if the American uses the master tape of Elephant or the British....

I for one would like to pick this up but don't know which one to get...

    mine is preordered

And looking forward to adding to my already extensive White Stripes vinyl collection.
This new mastering from the 1" analog tape is very exciting indeed!
    Kudos to Steve and Keven.
Keep up the good work dudes. :righton:

Is there a release date yet on the Icky Thump vinyl?

    June 19th

According to Acoustic Sounds it should be in on 19-Jun but My experience with pre orders they never release on the projected date mostly because the pressing plants are way behind.

I wanted to preorder from the becausesoundmatters web page to show my appreciation for the project, but I can't seem to do so. I can preorder with my local record store and at other online sites, but not BSM.

I'm wondering if I should just preorder locally or wait for BSM...

I was going to preorder from BSM as well but sadly found they do not have such a thing yet, fact thay only just show a picture under hot wax but that's it.
    They should address that.
I went ahead and preordered from http://store.acousticsounds.com/browse_detail.cfm?Title_ID=39751

I am wondering, does the vinyl also exhibits the bass-drum distortion that's present throughout the entire CD?

I think that quote was in reference to Icky Thump, not Elephant.
