As far as sound quality is the Sony Gold disk better than all the Japan issues? Which is the best? This cd is being redone too many times. It's confusing.

And exactly which ones have the bonus tracks?

Maybe that isn't a bad idea!

Personally? I like the Sony Superbit gold, somewhat better than the two other versions I have. One from the boxset and dunno which one this is but it's from around the time it was first released stateside on CD.

I had read somewhere that the Japan mini LP Cd was excellent. Unfortunately there are two versions. Or maybe three.

There is an emi, emi int'l and emi toshiba. One is supposed to have inferior quality.

I love this lp and need to get as much out of the remastering engineer as I can.

I hope the best one will be the SACD, due to be released later this year...

As far as I know, no versions of Wish You Were Here have bonus tracks.

The only Floyd album to get a bonus track is The Final Cut.

I love the Sony Gold disk, but I haven't heard any other cd issues.

I'm with you, The Quad mix of WYWH is one of the finest pieces of music I've ever heard. A near perfect combination of song writing, playing and multichannel production. And the "Woooooshhhhhhhhhhhhhh" still kills me every time.

I grab the SBM Gold Disc (CK53753) when I want to listen to it in the car.

Did I read the OP right? There's a version with extra tracks?

yeah. some versions only include 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond' Parts One And Two. others include the missing Parts III-IX. :D make sure to get the right one.

sounds awfully bootleg-ish to me. is that one of those Russian mp3 discs I'm always seeing on eBay?

I have the JPN. mini LP (I did not know there were 3 versions of it!), the CBS Mastersound and the JPN. black-face Harvest. The mini LP is by far the worst sounding. The black-face Harvest is excellent, but the gold CBS beats even the black-face Harvest. I would not have believed it had I not acquired the CBS gold because the black-face is excellent.

Sounds like the WYWH SACD is still a "go", according to this interview of Nick Mason conducted at end of April (right above photo of author w/ Nick Mason).

My favorite on CD so far is the Mastersound, but in all fairness I haven't heard the Japanese 1st pressing yet either. Like nukevor, I  Amused To Death as the Mastersound is easily the best.

For sheer fun you can't beat the Quad version. "Welcome To The Machine" literally shakes my house!

The Gold SONY version is also very good.

It was a quad vinyl release as well.

I got a copy most likely sourced from an 8-track and it does have very good bass.
