bring on a proper Singles Collection, BBC Sessions, live 70s albums and DVDs, anthologies, etc, etc

  5. I doubt that Universal will license these titles out any time soon as the continue to sell well.

Does this mean the US catalog leaves Hollywood as well?

I guess a new remaster campaign is to be expected then...

They're separate licenses. So no, unless the Hollywood contract has expired.

In the twilight of physical media, and for a band like Queen that no longer exists (and can't really exist again), moving the catalog really doesn't mean much except to the extent serious vault mining is involved.

The catalog IS a mess, with the stupid '91 remasters (with idiotic bonus tracks), way too many compilations, some flawed limited editions (the singles collections/boxed sets), etc. So maybe this will clear the decks for some serious decent reissues. Maybe.

I have to say that even though I'm all for bands moving on to me the very sad day Freddie Mercury died is the day Queen died...I cannot take "Queen" without him seriously.

    Freddie I miss you!!!!!!!!!!!!

He meant a lot to me.

They have essentially been on Universal for nearly 20 years here in the states - as Hollywood has been distributed by Universal for most of their existence....

  11. I wonder if Universal will remaster the Queen catalog?

    +1.

Queen, sadly, died with Freddie. Queen doesn't seem to realize that. And they've not properly redone the catalog except for the 5.1 of "A Night at the Opera."

  13. All very true.

Not a great surprise. Once their DVD contract was finished with EMI, I couldn't see them staying. All they need to do is re-release the 2001/2004 Japanese mini-lps (NOT the 1998 ones), job done, then they can get started with the archive stuff. Still one CD singles box set to go with EMI, BTW.

I doubt it. It's come up several times and been dismissed several times. I'm certain that Universal will want something unique, though.

Brian May has said several times it will appear, they haven't forgotten about it. Just a matter of when.

the least thing Queen fans need is a crappy compilation of post-Queen/remixes/solo stuff on DVD as "Greatest Hits"

There're tons of live footage, multitracks & soundboards hidden in their vaults. 70s Queen need to see the light, really

They should just remove the whole catalog from the market including the countless Greatest Hits discs and start over. New remasters (and lose the crummy bonus tracks), a concise Best of, and from there concentrate on all the great live performances in the vaults.

I didnt think what was bad as everyone made it out to be. I enjoyed most of it myself.

There will be no solo material or collaborations on the GH3 DVD.
