    Thick As A Brick

Caution: Obscure facts. Curious though, nonetheless. :shh:
Speaking of Thick As A Brick
Ever noticed that sections are titled:
    LATER
    LATER
    QUOTE
    LATER
and of course the final lines of Thick As A Brick are titled
    OF COURSE.

Yeah, I did like the St. Bride Concert. Very nice, although I will admit to cringing at the Thick as a Brick excerpt Ian sang at the end. Imagine hearing "your sperm's in the gutter" in the context of the sacred space in St. Bride's and the Christmas celebration setting. Yuck. What was he thinking? Seems to me no way to end an otherwise elegant, dignified, and inspiring performance. But hey, maybe that's just incurable Ian. Gotta whip out the Aqualung persona and wipe his snotty nose on his sleeve one more time for old time's sake and shock value.

Not that I don't love the song, you understand.

Yeah, Tull's one of my very favorites, but nothing on Ian's list there would even come within 1000 feet of my favorite songs.

    Hello from Nonfatman!

Hi, Dr. B., since you have joined us at TJTB, I thought it was about time I sign up here, and say hello to you as well as my friends Tootull and Chea.

I'm fatman2 here, but I'm nonfatman over there.

And I agree with you. I was surprised that Ian had such conventional musical tastes.

That's quite nice, all you have to do is go from here to there and you've lost weight!
Thanks, and same to you. Hello and welcome. I will say my how-do's over yonder in a bit. We need more resident Tull expertise here as I'm just a fan, not a know-it-all knowledgeable Tull student like Tootull

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, instead of dragging the boys out on the road yet again, how about some new tunes?!?

I mean I know they won't sell big (see my Moody's posts on the subject), but since it can all be done in house, it's not like the costs are that great either, and we fan boys are still interested.

    Piece of cake

Excuse me, I had to take a drink. Not that! :D ...and something to eat in honour of the fatman2.

Welcome to the dark side, Jeff. :D
Agree! A new album is long overdue.

Been listening to Heavy Horses today. What a fine album that is, and I've only really played it about three times since it was released - never paid proper attention. Although, I remember the day in college when and the little shop where I bought the album on campus - back in 1978, was it? I think now that this probably has my favorite set of Tull lyrics. Plus, it has the most acoustic-flavored stuff still played in concert; that and Songs from the Wood, I suppose. Those two back-to-back albums define very well the basic latter-day approach and appeal of the band up to this very day.

Certainly is. Where's Roy Harper or Fairport Convention on that list, for example? I thought Ian was more a fan and promoter of the English folky rock fellow travelers.

Typically, when an artist plays guest D.J. they are limited to the songs that the station actually plays. I really doubt those were really Ian's absolute favorite songs.

IA’s programme on Planet Rock on 18 January 2009 proved to contain quite an eclectic music mix. It was the third of four programmes celebrating the station’s 10th birthday and had IA as guest DJ presenting quite a diverse music selection which was as follows.

The Darkness - I Believe In A Thing Called Love
    Velvet Revolver - Slither
    Yes - Roundabout
Jethro Tull - Nothing Is Easy (from the Isle of Wight)
Cream - I’m So Glad (from the Royal Albert Hall 2005)
Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb (from Live 8)
    Jimi Hendrix - Hey Joe
    Genesis - Land Of Confusion
Blackmore’s Night - Street Of Dreams

Welcome maddogfagin. Good to see you here.

Strange avenues where you lose all sense of direction and everywhere is Main Street in the winter sun.The wino sleeps, cold coat lined with the money section. Looking like a a record cover from 1971.

I've posted this here from the JT Forum at http://jethrotull.proboards.com as it will of interest to those fans who like to know some of the early history of the band.

Persistence finally pays off and attached is a photo of The Star Hotel in Broadgreen, Croydon (home of the Star Club) where Jethro Tull played some of their early gigs in 1968.

I emailed Glen Cornick in 2007 about the Star Club set list for 22nd April 1968 (and the details are now on the electrocutas web site) but for the benefit of all on this forum the probable set list from his recollections was:
    Serenade to a Cuckoo
    Cat's Squirrel
    Rock Me Baby
    So Much Trouble
    Beggar's Farm
    Dharma For One
    My Sunday Feeling
    It's Breaking Me Up
    Song For Jeffrey
    Fat Man
Someday The Sun Won't Shine For You
    Sunshine Day

Glenn's parents lived nearby in Thornton Heath at the time.

I recall Ian saying that Zappa had put out feelers about the two of them collaborating on something, but then Zappa was diagnosed with cancer and Ian could never get up the nerve to call him.

Now that's a missed opportunity, although the pairing would have been more
    interesting in the mid-seventies, methinks.
