    Hi,

    Carrying on from here

    http://www.stevehoffman.tv/forums/showthread.php?t=129684

Thought I'd start this thread off with two VDP discs I found today for £3 each
I believe these to be the first issues of these two for the Japanese market.
The Matrix numbers are not that clear but for the VDP 12 disc it is VDP 12 1 121
and for the VDP 2 disc it is VDP 2 1 1111

    Simon :)

Here's the Rush - Signals green arrow that I just found, and mentioned over in the "first pressings" thread...

  4. Second that - congrats.

I like the VDPs and the VDJs, the sound of most 1500s and 1600s VDJ Jazz recordings is amazing IMHO.

I recently scored some nice scarce discs. I now own the Columbia "Pipes Of Peace" & "Tug Of War" in Japan (for US) CBS/Sony pressings. A DGG Archiv original label with the gray back (like the LP copies) rather than the silver back which is common. I also have 5 new early Denon classical discs and the Denon Sound Check Test CD. Lastly, I now own "Andre Watts in Japan" on Columbia. Japan (for US) CBS/Sony with original style CBS/Sony matrix numbers. All cost me $14.

By the way, I've had these Polygram discs on the brain lately, and I dug up my early Fame soundtrack red face, and noticed that it has the mirror surface in the non-play area. Were there any Fame red face discs that didn't have this?

This is gem.Ultra-rare thing. This "green arrows" is crazy difficult to find.I suspect this design existed very short introductory time only.

By the way, where were the green arrow discs sold? USA only? Europe?

Thanks (and also to billnunan) for the confirmation. Sounds like most/all of those early ones have the mirror surface.

    No problem :righton:

One observation I have made is that to the best of my knowledge that "Fame" 800 034-2 is the last Red Face disc issued to have the wide mirrored non data area, several of the earlier 800 0xx-2 discs have this :)

I think my rarest CDs may be a couple Maria McKee EPs: a LIVE IN GLASGOW disc, and a disc of acoustic versions of YOU GOT TO SIN TO GET SAVED songs. Both are legitimate label promos, not bootlegs.

Very nice. Until now I thought the Atomic was the first pressing on CD. Is the mastering the same? If possible can you post EAC numbers. Thanks

I'd be interested to know the answer to that too (but I'm assuming they are). Here are the peaks for mine:

    83.4 / 77.4 / 86.8 / 90.3 / 92.2 / 96.1 / 86.0 / 90.4

I can check my West German atomic disc on EAC tomorrow, but I can tell you that it has the same matrix code as your green-arrow disc ("810002 2 01").
