If it’s Sony, it’s a copy from the analogue master tape, I’ve read somewhere they don’t share master tapes.

What about columbia though? Do they share?

Sometimes I noticed they say cut from analogue master tape.

    .....

    So to summarise:

Wnhen they say cut from tapes only: must come from digital copy on tape ?

When it says cut from analogue tape must be a later generation copy of the master.

And when it involves the word master tape must be the original master available ?

    Can someone clarify?

    AAA means AAA. All Analog.
    Columbia is owned by Sony.

AAA cut from "master" tapes vs AAA cut from just tapes is how to distinguish between copy vs original with them I think, reading between the lines. Usually their stuff from Warner Music/Rhino and Craft will be original tapes and their stuff from the Sony labels will be copy tapes.

What's the general opinion on 1st VMP pressing of John Mayer's continuum vs 1st original pressing from 2006.

A Day At The Races? I didn't think VMP ever did that title. Just a random reissue they sold?

A few of these are titles I cant see any VMP history for, so I’m curious.

It never came up in a random search, but it came up when the TBT titles went live. The listing said not a VMP exclusive and black vinyl, so I wasn't interested. Good thing, because by the time I read that it sold out. It was available for all of about a minute (Roberta Flack too). Not sure what all the fuss was about.

Has anyone noticed that VMP's site has been redesigned? I am no longer able to scroll through the exclusive swaps as the arrows have disappeared. Also the ROTM fonts are gigantic; not the old thumb nail. I find the site practically unusable now. I'm talking about the site on a computer. On my IPhone, nothing has changed

It seems like they've pushed the mobile layout to desktop. I hate it.

In my recent experience, GZ has improved and RTI has worsened. I wonder if Vinyl Media Pressing and Fidelity Record Pressing have siphoned the best talent from RTI.

Reggae would be cool too. I don’t see a lot of quality reissues of ‘70s reggae albums, a lot of which tend to be under-appreciated albums anyways. Would be cool if VMP shines a light on those releases.

I agree it’s definitely not a direct comparison. I wasn’t trying to make one.

But my point is the AP SRV pressings (all of them) are highly regarded, and are therefore a reference point. And the VMP is therefore no slouch if it sounds as good or close to as good as one of the AP SRV records. More generally speaking, I can tell if a record sounds “good” because of various other records in my collection that sound “good” and others that don’t. They are reference points, although not direct comparisons.

If someone has the AP and VMP pressings of couldn’t stand the weather, that comparison would be great to see. Although you would have to factor differences in 45 vs 33.

Is it possible for me to add the Essentials track at this time to ensure I get "Black Moses"? Since I chose the Little Richard record, adding tracks does not seem to be possible, unless I'm missing something. Will it be possible before March 16th when swaps will open? I don't want to take a chance that it'll get immediately sold out. That's *the* record I've been waiting for since the announcement in January!

once swaps open you can add or swap. Or right now you can go to your membership page and change your primary track.
