Whatever it is, I’m sure it’s worth it as there is such a big market for this that Chad can get away with charging even more than normal
Given Jimmy loves vinyl, I'm surprised he not amenable to AAA reissues of his catalog. I guess having his digital remasters on wax really is good enough for him.
I also think that that those are kind of decent - I have I think all of them and they are OK. No horrible press issues, etc. So maybe there is little drive to better those - That say, I am not saying that those cannot be bettered. I haven't heard the Classic Records pressings but heard so many great things that I hope someday I can hear those at a reasonable price - hopefully in the form of new AP. If it happens, I do hope we get them in 33 and 45, if only can done one... hopefully 33, but thinking 45 will be it.
For anyone who has very recently received the Crosby, are numbered copies still going out? I called Acoustic Sounds this morning to ask if they had any numbered copies remaining, and the lady on the other end told me that she had no idea and no way of finding out.
Looks like maybe you can still get a numbered STP Core LP from Acoustic Sounds. I ordered on April 16, just arrived today. #1807
If you have the Mono box then you have the Dictionary of Soul in mono in that. It's cut by IS though so not AAA I guess, but still it's better than a very expensive AP version at 45 in stereo!!!
After hearing the Dock of the Bay SACD in stereo, I’m happy the rest are being done in stereo as well. Having said that, I’d also buy mono versions.
I guess the distortion on david Crosby Music is love must be more apparent on the new cut if it’s more revealing of the tape?
Pretty sure that’s always been there. I had an original that I thought was damaged but they all seem to have that distortion.
Has anyone compared the Mofi David Crosby with the recent Atlantic 75th? I have the mofi and have the 75th on order. I think the mofi sounds great but the vinyl is not as quiet as I would like from the supposedly superior vinyl formulation you're supposed to get with supervinyl.
Is there any better moment on vinyl than when the crystal clear, sonically beautiful coda comes in after the "everybody knows that music is love" chanting stops?! I love that part SO much.
