Is all Dynaflex vinyl bad? Are all early pressings of Ziggy Stardust on Dynaflex? Should I hunt down a UK pressing or are they Dynaflex too?

My "new" RCA orange label of Ziggy Stardust is, alas, Dynaflex. It sounds as if a blanket has been thrown over my speakers and there are only hints of bass. And the noise is as if the needle is plowing through cardboard.

I'd like an early LP pressing of Ziggy Stardust, but every where I look, I see Dynaflex. Any advice about what to look for would be appreciated.

A place where you find RCA's which were not dynaflex (tm) is the UK - so pay ebay uk a visit.

Thanks for the link. It appears that early US Bowie is going to be good 'ol Dynaflex.

    UK it is.

My 1972 US RCA Dynaflex of Lou Reed's Transformer sounds superb, much better than my UK pressing. I also owned a US Dynaflex of Ziggy but got rid of it very quickly, the UK original 1972 orange label RCA is most definitely the one to own for the best sounding vinyl. So, the answer is that not all Dynaflex is bad.

I put my dynaflex copy in the sun and made a chip bowl out of it.

Sadly, I haven't replaced it yet.

Haven't played it lately, but IIRC my US Dynaflex sounds quite good as far as pressing quality is concerned. Haven't had the opportunity to compare its fidelity with other vinyl pressings, though.
