He indicated that the 5.1 of "The Wall" was in the planning stages, but that no real work had been done yet. But he was very positive that the mix would happen.

So how did the conveyor belt sound at the beginning of "Welcome To The Machine"? Apparently it's supposed to sound as if you're on the belt yourself, with things moving past you on the sides.

So, just like with Dark Side, we can listen to the old 4.0 mix instead, which is mega-agressive, and just about perfect. The 5.1 is a bonus, as long as we still get the originals, too.:edthumbs:

I'm tempted to get the Immersion set, mainly for the Blu-Ray with the Parsons 4.0 mix and Guthries new 5.1. The Parsons mix is great, wonderful use of surround and I'm interested to hear Guthries take on the material, just hope that it's not a conservative mix like his Dark Side was. Good news re The Wall in surround, not my favourite album, but the wife loves it and I'd like to hear a 5.1 mix.

The SACD should be available for a lot less from Amazon.

Guthries 5.1 is not conservative at all!:righton:

Why didn't I even consider Amazon distributing ? That's where I got the CCR SACDs as just one example...

Thanks Keith, think I'm going senile.

Myke, You spend quite a bit on cd's, let's not go overboard on needing a tank of gas.

Plus, it's not like you would have a hard time reselling it.

  14. The Quad mix of WYWH is great! I wonder how different the 5.1 mix will be.

One income here, not two. If it all gets spent, and there's none left, WTF do you use to pay for gas ? Amazon points ? No. Some of us actually run out of disposable cash now and then.

I'm going to buy one by having it shipped to a friend in the US who will ship it here to me in NZ at a fraction of the cost. Want in? :D

I have this also on pre-order.
The unofficial DTS quad version has unbelievable sound during the "conveyor belt" sequence. My whole house shakes!

Was it determined that Amazon's exclusion of the quad mix on the BD was just a mistake ala DSOTM ?

Where is the information that the quad version will be released on the Blu-ray only as an Amazon "exclusive"?

Myke Trying Not To Spook The Horse

I wasn't implying it was an exclusive...it's just the only place I've seen a detailed description of the Immersion's contents.

Ok. No problem. When I look at the Amazon page I see nothing indicating that the 4.0 mix is even on the Blu-ray disc:

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938631&pf_rd_i=507846

Yet here is a description from another forum that seems to list the 4.0 mix on the blu-ray :
