Can someone post the year of release and the peak values for this one? I'd like to find out if it has the same mastering as this CD:

    2001 - Riverside / RCD-9376-2 / 20-Bit K2

    Both have 11 tracks.

The Doug Sax Gold is what I have. Sounds great to me, never had a desire to check out any other version. I'll stick with it.

Can I throw another Bill Evans album into the mix? Moon Beams

The OJC is still around as far as I can tell, as is an AP SACD mastered by Doug Sax.

Bill Evans' niece Debby inspired him to write Waltz for Debby, according to Peter Pettinger's excellent biography "Bill Evans - How My Heart Sings" (page 24). The bio was published by Yale University Press in 1998.

Can someone explain the difference between these JVC XRCDs of Village Vanguard:

    JVCXR-0051-2 (1997, bar code 693692005127)
    JVC XRCD VICJ-6012 (2006, I think)
And I think there might be a 3rd with the UPC 009119005128 from 1999?

Are these all Alan Yoshida? Same master?

Not sure how much this will help you. The only one I have has the 5128 UPC, dated 1997, with the catalog #JVCXR-0051-2. Mastered by Alan Yoshida. And the disc itself bears the code: VICJ-60142-1- 1F.

Here's the information I dug up from my files:
Sunday at the Village Vanguard: JVC XRCD JVCXR-0051-2 (mastered by Alan Yoshida at A&M in Hollywood).

This one above is definitely Alan. Not sure about the others.

Can't tell if you're kidding or not.

If you're not, stay away from that.

    Steve,

No it was a serious question. I saw this version listed on sa-cd.net with decent ratings. So I thought I would check here to see if anyone has heard this version. Thanks for your advice :).

Two track live recording. Any multi-channel would be faked.

I just picked up Waltz for Debby XRCD mastered by YoShida on the cheap at a used shop. I think it sounds wonderful. However, compared to my standard rebook version (Riverside/Fantasy/Jazz classics), it seems to have more air. In fact, the bass fret clicks are way more prominent. I originally thought it was that CD skipping noise. However, overall it was a good listen

    My preferences:

Waltz for Debby - Gold CD mastered by Doug Sax

Sunday at the Village Vanguard - xrcd

Both sound amazing and are worth every penny.

Can somebody give an advice which of the available download versions of Waltz for Debby and Live at the Village Vanguard are the ones to go for? Acoustic Sounds will be SACD based I guess? So Waltz should be ok, LatVV not? Does anyone know what is the source for the HDTracks version of Waltz?

I will have to do an a/b comparison of the regular vs XRCD edition

As far as I'm concerned, those are the only two digital versions that are great.

Steve, what about Paul Stubblebine's 24/192 mastering from 2013 released on HD-Tracks and SHM-SACD?
"Remastered by Paul Stubblebine using the Keith Johnson-designed Pacific Microsonics converter.
These files are transferred from the original analog master tapes exclusively, not from safety copies or production dubs."

    I
think it's a terrific transfer and sounds most excellent on my SHM-SACD release.
