Hey, guess what I got in the mail today?

I appreciate Rhino doing this at all at no charge, but GEEZ, that took a long time.

Although I got an e-mail from them over a month ago, nothing has arrived in my mailbox yet.

Took about six weeks for mine to arrive after I got the e-mail. Clearly all the manpower cutbacks at Rhino impacted this whole operation...

BrettyD: I haven't played them yet, sorry.

On September 28, 2009, I got this e-mail from Dr. Rhino:

    Dear New Order Fan,

Thank you for your email and your patience. Your replacement request is
currently being processed and your replacement discs will ship out
    within 10 business days.

We apologize for the delay and thank you again for your patience.

It is now mid-December and I haven't received them. They haven't been replying to my e-mails. Is anyone else still waiting?

wtf is going on over at WB? "How to lose your entire clientele in one year" will be the name of the book written about Rhino and WB with their demise based on this years bad juju...this is one company I no longer purchase anything from. Just one badly run company at this point.

Edgar needs to find something else to do...and Lyor...and Dr. Rhino, or whatever that interns name really is.

you all need to read this one...

Sounds interesting, I'd never gotten around to picking up the Other Two albums when they were out but I remember hearing bits of the first one and liking it.

On the LTM site, the have in a message in ALL CAPS saying "NOT FOR SALE IN THE USA AND CANADA." I wonder if this means that they won't be taking US mail orders as well. I'd be interested in the bonus disc of rarities that they're exclusively offering.

I just got this email from Dr. Rhino today:

I have put your replacement discs in the mail today.

I apologize for the delay and thank you for your patience.

    Dr. Rhino

Note that I first contacted them in August, 2009 and that they promised to mail them out within 10 days the following month. Oh well, better late than never!

So are these replacement discs any good?
And if I buy the remasters now, will I get the corrected discs?

jojo -- I think there are ways to tell from the outside of the package whether you're getting the corrected versions or not. Look back a few pages -- I think someone posted that info a few months back.

The originals came in a slipcover, the fixed editions come in a clear bag IIRC.

obviously this only helps if the packaging is opened.

That's only for the US Rhino editions. Anyone know how to identify the UK London editions?

Or were ONLY the US editions corrected?

I don't know. My replacement discs for faulty European ones were US editions.

  18. ...just to make you even more jealous. Customers in Europe who order both discs direct from LTM get a free third full length bonus CD containing the following tracks:-

    1 Autosound
    2 Moving On (Pascal Gabriel)
    3 Tasty Fish (O.T Mix)
    4 Sawdust
    5 Selfish (East Village Vocal)
    6 Selfish (East Village Dub)
7 You Can Fly (Quake Vocal Mix)
    8 Innocence (Love To Infinity)

So I finally got around to getting the (re-)remastered 'Low-Life' (US Rhino version; I've pretty much given up on the fantasy of getting a proper UK London copy)

And the labels are on the wrong discs! :realmad:(this series just can't catch a break, can it?)

Is it just my imagination or does the album proper sound remixed? Especially 'Love Vigilantes' and 'This Time Of Night'?? Either way, this does seem like a far too aggressive remaster for my tender sensibilities. (Haven't done an A/B with the Japanese Columbia yet, though - that'll have to wait until later next morning)

Love getting the full-length singles, though. Probably worth keeping for the bonus tracks.

Or maybe I'm just getting paranoid and cynical in my old age.

Having done a careful A/B (paying particular attention to the buzzes, hums and extraneous noises between songs), I've done a 180 on the "remix" theory and am now wondering if there's been any concrete evidence presented that this was actually remastered from the master tape and not just re-EQ'd and fiddled with from the old CD?

I haven't A/Bed the old discs and the remasters but I wondered the same thing when I first listened to the remasters. They don't sound that different from what I remember. Wouldn't surprise me if the albums weren't remastered at all.

After all this time, no-one's run the remasters and originals to compare peak levels?

Does someone have the matrix numbers for the bad discs and the good discs?

A post in this thread says the following are the good ones but he doesn't have the bad ones included.

    Power Corruption and Lies
    R2 516186-2.1 RE-1
    R2 516186-2.2 RE-1

    Thanks!
