All the bonus discs are being replaced as well as Technique Disc 1 - which is odd as I don't recall any particular fault with it.

Can someone clarify for me if all of those "faults" apply to the US versions as well? All the lists I've seen originate from the UK.

Yep. The US versions have the same faults. What is worse is Rhino knew about them from the European complaints but failed to pull the release.

 Really? another glaring reason people arent buying music. when you do, its riddled in compression and flaws.

how hard is it to go on the internet and find a few uberfans who can help a label finalize a "definitive" catalog deluxe release aimed squarely at them?

i'll say it again, i can't wait to hear about how these "fixed" discs sound...please keep us informed. I already know to avoid them at this point. Pity as this reissue series was aimed squarely right at me, but I doubt they'll get it sounding better than my humble needledrops.

I actually was sent promos of all five albums to review them for a magazine, and once word of the mistakes got around, the editor called and told me not to bother. I emailed the publicist to tell him my review wouldn't be running and to my surprise, he didn't even bat an eyelash about it. So it seems to me that they definitely knew something was screwy with these things, or at least had heard it from other people by that point.

    No kidding!

  14. ..thanks for your clarification on this Kenny !

I have been avidly following the Remasters debacle on neworderonline. Indeed I remember you got your discs early in Ireland and from your post on here I reported back your finding on neworderonline. My post turned into one of those enormous threads with everyone chiming in with more and more errors!

Anyway I'm glad you have confirmed that the Disc Ones are compressed - I won't be bothering with any of these. I'm not remotely interested in the Disc Two's as to me they did not pick particularly interesting tracks to put on these. I'll be keeping my original Factory CDs.

I believe a neworderonline forum member has posted his own blog with downloads of New Order's classic singles. Whilst I don't condone this type of thing you can understand the motivation when the record company make such a pigs ear of it. Has anyone got the latest date for these remastered remasters yet - at one point I thought they had been promised for April / June ???

Dr Rhino confirmed that they would send my replacement disc ("Movement" disc 2). No changes made, and therefore no replacement planned, for disc(s) 1, except for Technique.

Dr says "The replacement discs are scheduled to become available on 8/25/09."

So I assume that means they'll just send the discs, not whole new packages? That's too bad, as my cardboard packs were a little banged up when I got them. Oh well.

That is just beyond awful. It's close to fraud selling these things.

i could say this about dozens if not hundreds of reissued remasters...its why cd's dont sell as well IMO, if they sound like jack hammers, as they usually do...these sound like jackhammers with some pops and clicks....most probably didnt notice...

The only branch of Warners which pulled the release I believe was the Japanese and we have to give full credit to them for doing so.

The new discs apparently will be ready at the end of this month, according to Rhino. To be honest, I've given up caring... I'm happy with the original CDs and my needledrops.

All the first remasters are still on the racks in Cardiff for unsuspecting fans to pick up. I don't even think they will do a replacement thing in the UK, they rarely do from what I have seen.

To get a replacement, all you have to do is send a message to the Dr Rhino email on the American Rhino website (www.rhino.com) and you'll get instructions. They're replacing my ones and I am in Ireland. :righton:

you just have to proceed carefully by stating it's the DISC you want and not the CAT (underlining "disc" won't hurt), unless your cat pops and crackles like the NO discs.
