Jaar21 is a fairly new avatar ... so you won't be surprised if I come up with a Nicolás Jaar album- he is the latest electronic musician to have had such an impact on me ... will take a while I should think before this is topped ... hence today and ... tomorrow!

Either of his 2 "latest" albums- Cenizas or Telas both from 2020.

(Would not be surprised if Jaar knew he was a genius but does not seem to give a ... too busy keeping his ears to the planet's sick ground ... which he keeps travelling non-stopped ... He will write books, will make movies ... Can't work out yet whether the guy has a massive ego or is totally ego-less. The most fascinating artist I have come across in recent years)

Naked Funk - Evolution Ending (1999)

When the Pussyfoot Records label from the UK returned to action in around 2018, they really should have reunited this duo of producers Jony "Rockstar" Livsey and Jeremy "Jez" Shaw, who recorded 2 albums and several contributions to label compilations, themed or otherwise, for the label back during its initial run during the downbeat a/k/a trip-hop era of the mid- to late 90s. As the label did not, this is still their best record together. Some very phat beats out of tiny machines, and a lot of stunning textures, too. It's not near as organic sounding as their work with their erstwhile mentor Howie B, so don't expect that. Also if you know this one and his work, too, you'll know better what they brought to the table. Rockstar went on to write most of the music for the Sugababes' hit "Overload" during the same era, so he probably would not need to go back to making club music ever again to make a living. Yet, a comeback album by those 2 would be very much appreciated. Also of note is the exciting story by poet Mike Benson that is read out aloud in the title track by Pam Hogg in her native Scottish accent, who is mostly known as a visionary fashion designer.

Global Communication’s 1994 LP "76:14" is rightly considered a classic of 90s ambient music and a pioneering album, the influence of which resonates to this day.

Nuno Canavarro - Plux Quba. An unusual but lovely electronic album which may occupy its own world of off-kilter music box sounds and melodies.

Originally released in 1988 and then reissued in 1998 on Jim O’Rouke’s Moikai label (and much more recently on Drag City).

    Goldfrapp - Supernature (2005)

Coming across like the missing link between Black Cherry's sexy, sharp-edged dancefloor experiments and Felt Mountain's luxe soundscapes, Supernature sometimes combines the best elements from those two albums into something great, and at other times renders them into something surprisingly bland. Along with the aforementioned "Ooh La La," the upbeat tracks find Goldfrapp becoming the robo-glam-disco gods that Black Cherry suggested they might: the starkly catchy "Lovely 2 CU," the fabulously blasé "Ride a White Horse," and "Satin Chic," which could single-handedly make honky tonk pianos fashionable again, all use the duo's inherently theatrical style to very catchy, immediate ends.
