What Cannonball Adderley should I get?

The HDAD does sound fantastic.

Several fine recordings have been mentioned.
Somehow - until recently - I had overlooked the album he did with Nancy Wilson - Nancy Wilson/ Cannonball Adderly. His accompaniment of Ms. Wilson is a textbook in the art; and almost half the album is given to top-drawer instrumentals from the quintet.
Never been that a big fan of Nancy Wilson, but this album shows what beauty she's capable of given the right setting.

"The Cannonball Adderley Quintet Plus" on Riverside with Nat, Wynton Kelly, Sam Jones, Louis Hayes, and Victor Feldman as the Plus. Intense.

And I agree that "Something Else" is a Miles record. Cannonball's own records are more funky, bluesy versus the moody introspection of "Something Else." So if you want to hear what Cannonball's music is really like, you have to get something else.
