Tommy for me. I have the MFSL, 2 disc German, DVD-Audio, and the movie soundtrack.

Vinyl wise it would be Deep Purple - Machine Head. Went thru many copies with cheap ceramic cartridge turntables back in the day....

I have three vinyl copies of Out of the Mist by Illusion plus the CD that includes it and the followup. I'm pretty sure the same is true for Foxtrot and Nursery Cryme by Genesis.

    For different versions...
    The Beatles's Revolver. 3 lp's, 3 CD's and 1 cassette.

    For replacement...
Pearl Jam's Vs. I must have had purchased the CD of this 10 times over the years. It's been lost, stolen or scratched to hell so many times that it's almost like I'm not meant to own it. Also, had the cassette.

Edit: need to add two releases that i haven't bought myself:
SACD (which i got as a gift)
    DVD-A (unofficial Parsons mix release)

I've nearly forgotten the SACD release because:
    - as a mch disc, the Parsons mix smokes it out heavily;
    - as a stereo disc, i can't stand the two extra pause before TGGITS. It has killed for me the flow of the album.
For sure the less played sacd in my collection.

..bought another copy of Dark Side Of The Moon (Capitol) last week, it is number 10 or 11..I bought it because I did not have one on Capitol. I was lucky too, according to Vernon's excellent PF site it has a mastering that's exclusive to North America.

Pet Sounds and The Beatles. I have four versions of each.

  22. Oh definitely "Octopus" by Gentle Giant! I originally had three problems with it:

    - I was crazy about that record.

    - I had a friend in highschool who drove a car, that knew where to go out in the open to find the hot, swirl Vertigo import copy with the cool Roger Dean cover, and kindly and graciously kept taking orders from us lowly, no-lifers.

    - I had a terrible "stereo" record player, that kept trashing those hot-cut Vertigos... So I kept bleeding myself white and replacing the worn records with new imports... By the third copy, they had changed to the spaceship label.

(I think it's still better to come clean with stuff like that once in a while...)

Now I finally own four copies: a German-for-the-UK CD (or is it the other way around?), a VG swirl original UK vinyl, a NM (but so-so pressed) UK spaceship vinyl, and a NM Dutch late spaceship vinyl (this one bought knew in the late 80s). I once bought the Japanese mini-LP cover CD too, but didn't like it much and sold it back.
