I have a flyer that shows all 25 titles, some look tempting. I can't wait.

Yeah, I saw the list upthread of all 25 too -- wondering why they only have 18 posted on the site?!

But I'm with you, Rockman -- can't wait for these!

    Let's see and wait.

I think it's 'cause that link only goes to the Hybrid *Stereo* SACDs. The six mono SACDs are here.

    Still leaves one short, though.

Edit: Ah, as I suspected, the missing one is classified as a "hybrid multichannel SACD", so it's not in either list. It's Oscar Peterson's We Get Requests. Is this a mistake or is there really a multichannel mix?

I am up for these but they do know how to relieve you of some hard earned cash between Mofi, Audiowave, Impulse, Blue Note and Verve sacd's and xrcd's. What next?

Do you mean from Analogue Productions? Is this real or speculation?

We are have already gotten SHM-SACDs of Fantasy jazz titles that are generally well regarded.

I didn't see this mentioned in this thread...

George Marino has the mastering honors for the Verve SACD series on AP.

I would guess jovial speculation, but it wouldn't be unreasonable as the next wallet draining jazz series from APO.

This is the correct answer. I was just poking fun at all of these Analouge Productions SACD series.

Steve and Kevin did the Blue Notes, Kevin did the Impulses and now George Marino for the Verves.

Nothing against GM, and his work on these may prove to be wonderful, but I'd have felt more comfortable with SH/KG at the mastering helm.

  16. He did a GREAT job with the AP/Sony Miles Davis hybrids, so I expect the same with the Verve catalog.

Agreed. Those Miles Davis discs are very good.

    That's good to know.

Am more familair with SH & KG's work so the trust and comfort level is higher.
The fact that GM is mastering won't hold me back from buying if the overall consensus here is good.

the Verve titles aren't my favorite in the context of jazz labels, but if the SACDs are done with care, I'll definitely be checking them out.

Was there not an XRCD release mastered by Alan Y. on this title? I think there was but not 100% sure. If I'm right, what was wrong that release of this title?

Good question. There was only one almost correct release of this title on CD back in the early to mid-1980s (WG release if I recall) and is extremely hard to find. All others from that point have been either remixes or the original two channel mix has been messed with for some reason (channels reversed or folded in), and/or bad EQ with compression added.

As far as I know there was no Alan Yoshida-mastered XRCD version. There was a Mobile Fidelity release, back in 1994.

According to an e-mail I just received from Acoustic Sounds, the first 4 Verve SACDs are shipping next week:

    Getz/Gilberto
    Ella & Louis
Oscar Peterson - We Get Requests
Billie Holiday - Body and Soul

  25. Parkertown

    Parkertown Tawny Port

Here's one they need to do:

Bill Evans - Conversations With Myself

    As a 3-track mch presentation.
