The more I think about this, the more I think I'm going to wait until the second disc is offered up as a standalone CD like Universal has been doing for some of their Deluxe Edition titles. I'm disappointed by what is going to be offered as the bonus disc. In regards to the first disc comprising the original album, it is in my mind that nothing is going to top the old MOFI Gold disc. Hell, if I got the upcoming Deluxe Edition, I'd probably only listen to the first disc once anyway out of curiosity and then go to my MOFI for the first disc and then listen to the second. Why waste the money? So, I'm going to wait until the second disc is issued by itself.

If a person, like the poster I was responding to, is not "geared up for Blu-ray audio", then they not only lack a Blu-ray player, but certainly lack an HDMI 1.3 receiver/processor. As such, they would have to rely on the analog outputs of a Blu-ray player for the audio. My comments were a caveat that the analog output from a $100 Blu-ray player is not going be the same as a $1000 Blu-ray player.

+1. The second disc should be a unique experience to itself.

it's a lot hotter than i expected given the reviews here and TP's current stance on audio quality. if the blu-ray is genuinely uncompressed and more dynamic than the CDs i'd consider rebuying this title.

I know I'm not the only person around here who thinks they should have added Nowhere, Surrender, Casa Dega and It's Raining Again as bonus tracks to Disc 1 and then filled Disc 2 with live material from the Damn the Torpedos tour.

  6. I assure you, you're not.

I've got dozens of Petty live gigs. None of the recordings leap out of the speakers at you like the tracks on the Live Anthology box do.

I've been a Petty collector for 25 years. I'll get both CD and BD. Disappointed, still, that they didn't try a bit harder with it.

Is this vinyl the "deluxe edition" with bonus tracks, or just the remastered album? I assume (hope) it would be mastered from the hi-def master...

It doesn't? It's a demo of a song that ended up on the album....

One can only hope that with the mini-resurgence of SACD and the trickle of BD music that hi-rez will be a growing niche.

I think you can trust this this will NOT be the case.

Personally I don't think there's any question that the BD will be more dynamic than the CD.

Thanks to WindFall for his posts on this thread.
I need to pickup the Mojo BD and will certainly be getting the DTT BD.
One can only hope that this will be the start of further TP & The Heartbreakers catalog releases on BD.

I think TP's Live Anthology undoubtedly has to be one of the best if not #1 Best sounding live CD's!!! I mean The Heartbreakers are in my living room!!

Thank you! Been waiting to order the Blu-ray from some place.

The Amazon US listing no longer says IMPORT and the pre-order price is now down to $26.99.

Amazon have temporarily removed that listing. Wonder what's going on? Perhaps they did jump the gun.

Was just reading a post Ryan Ulyate made on blu-ray.com two weeks ago that definitely confirms we are getting a high resolution stereo and 5.1 mix of Damn The Torpedoes, we just need to wait until they list it properly for pre-order.

Hope the entire catalogue undergoes this process.
