man this looks pretty freaking sweet to me. I can see myself having an insane Smiths weekend where I listen to all the vinyl and all the CDs in sequential order while drinking coffee and feeling so sad I'm happy.

Will pick this up as soon as Amazon have the CD set for a decent price...I only own the latest 2 disc 'best of'...I'm pretty excited to hear the albums FOR THE FIRST TIME!

As I already have all their regular albums and compilations on vinyl, I'll be passing. Though having all their singles would be a nice thing. Morrissey was always so great at picking images for album and singles covers. Odd that he has pretty much always appeared on the covers of his solo singles and albums.

    kiss!! kiss! :hugs:

Sound of the smiths wasn't good (brickwalled) we safely can expect the same for this..... Those RT are still the best (and nop i don't have them).
I bet these new ones share the same remaster...

The singles are 7" A side 1 track, B side 1 track, they are NOT complete. The 12" those are more complete.

i haven't had anything shipped from across the pond in a while. When I added the Deluxe Box to my cart just to check the shipping cost, there was only one option available: expressing shipping which costs over 60 pounds! i wonder if Rhino US will offer any of these boxes? If I'm already paying $400 for an early Christmas present I'd rather not pay another $100 just to have it shipped.

And the cd singles are even more complete in some cases. Since the previous topic has been superceeded by this one, I'll just add this information from the previous discussion here:

That'll be the original 7" singles, which only numbered about 17 or 18. This new box has added 7 or 8 new ones (e.g. Reel around the fountain b/w/ Jeane) which are there to collect up all the 12" tracks that would be otherwise missing.

    I will pass also.
I got the vinyl re-releases that Rhino issued a year ago or so, which sounded great BTW, I also have the UK originals and some other European releases plus some singles.
    That's enough Smiths for me.

If that really is the rationale, where's 'Accept Yourself', for example?

Reel/Jeane was going to be single #2, but got cancelled, so it kind of makes sense to do it, but really, the whole thing's as ridiculous as that 7" box set they did for Joy Division.

For me, the core singles are 'Hand In Glove' through to 'Girlfriend In A Coma'. (Plus the 'You've Just Haven't Earned It Yet Baby' so-called "mispress")

    I'm curious about these ones:

    20. Sweet And Tender Hooligan b/w I Keep Mine Hidden
    21. There Is A Light That Never Goes Out b/w Half A Person
    22. Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others b/w The Draize Train
    23. Stop Me If You Think You’ve Heard This One Before b/w Girlfriend In A Coma
    24. Hand In Glove b/w I Don’t Owe You Anything
    25. William, It Was Really Nothing b/w How Soon Is Now

I can hazard a guess on these:

    21. There Is A Light That Never Goes Out b/w Half A Person - repro of French "boy with popsicle" sleeve 45
    23. Stop Me If You Think You’ve Heard This One Before b/w Girlfriend In A Coma - repro of either German or Australian 45, included perhaps because "Stop Me..." was cancelled as a 45 in the UK
    25. William, It Was Really Nothing b/w How Soon Is Now - repro of Billie Whitelaw sleeve

The others I'm guessing are proposed singles that may have reached the test pressing stage. Any guesses?

On 'Hatful of Hollow'. It just looks as if they've chosen the b-sides of some of the 7" singles as a way of including Jeane, I Keep Mine Hidden, Work is a Four Letter Word, because those songs aren't on Hatful or The World Won't Listen.

Yeah, but the HOH "Accept Yourself" is a different version than the one on the "This Charming Man" 12".

That's right, and I'm still unclear about what'll be included. What's the story about the 3 double albums? And is it worth bothering about Louder Than Bombs when it's just duplicating tracks from the other two compilations?

Louder than Bombs has "Is It Really So Strange?", "Sheila Take a Bow," and "Sweet and Tender Hooligan," which all came out after The World Won't Listen (IIRC); also it has the original b-side versions of "These Things Take Time" and "Back to the Old House," whereas Hatful of Hollow has the BBC session versions.

Single 24 has to be the Sandie Shaw one

Oooh... good guess! That's sounds likely to me.

So, of the list below I already have the ones in red (well, the Sandie Shaw is a 12"):

I wonder if "Sweet and Tender Hooligan" is a repro of the US release (there was a CD and 12" that had two more cuts including "What's The World") and "Some Girls..." could be a repro of the German (?) single that had Yootha Joyce on the cover (very similar to the UK "Ask" sleeve).
