Reminds me a little of slightly heavier Magnum. I like Dave Hill's voice but I do wonder whether his rough-hewn style is something that stopped Demon appealing to the melodic rock crowd as much as they might have done, during their Eighties hey-day. As an aside, strange to suddenly see them on Frontiers. Hopefully, they'll not get too Seraphino-ed and have a well-deserved late-career flourish.
Great album! Perfect timing too; just when I was getting knee deep into all things slow and heavy. Never liked Messiah either, so this one hit my sweet spot. And the tour, my gosh that tour!
Skid Row Studio album by Skid Row Released January 24, 1989 Recorded 1988 Studio Royal Recorders, Lake Geneva, Wisconsin Genre Glam metal[1] hard rock[2] heavy metal[3] Length 39:28 Label Atlantic Producer Michael Wagener
Good point. The made some of the most interesting & thoughtful hard rock of the Eighties but the name, which only really suited the first two records, would have you believe that they had more in common with Mercyful Fate & Venom than was ever the case.
I always thought they had a similarity to Magnum. Demon were/are a great little band who never got the recognition they deserved
My collection is severely lacking in Demon, and many other NWOBHM bands that I know I would like. I don't think many copies of their albums reached these shores.

Yeah I hear ya. My concert going days have slowed down quite a bit these days. If these guys came around, I would like to see them.
Well that was exhausting...seems stuck on the nu-metal pedal and ignoring all the great stuff coming out from bands like Lords of Black and Night Demon and the more melodic stuff cranked out by Frontiers. I mean, outside of Ghost I have never heard any of the bands he brings up. And he's also going to the extreme of the bands at the end of their careers and those at the start...what about the Jorn's and Axel Rudi Pell's and Vanden Plas' of the world who are still out there?
Well to be fair he’s talking about who’s going to become the next stadium/arena level act and none of the bands you listed have a chance in hell of doing that stateside, hell they could barely fill a big club here. Just the fact that you haven’t even heard of the newer bands he’s talking about kinda locks you out of the youth movement in metal/rock. I’m an older guy myself, 47, but I still follow the newer bands coming up. I’m a big fan of Spiritbox and am looking forward to seeing them with Korn and Gojira in September. Basically this article comes down to a tired argument of if I like it, it’s metal, if I don’t like it, it’s not metal. For him to claim that Spiritbox and Sleep Token aren’t actually cool and popular just shows how out of touch he is with the actual youth of metal. Both bands are blowing up, it’s fine to not care for the new style of music but lame to act like you can’t see how popular they actually are. Wahhh, breakdowns are now more popular than riffs, grow up. Something new will take its place and become popular soon enough. I refuse to stay stuck in the 80’s and 90’s when it comes to the metal/hard rock I listen to. It’ll be a sad day for me when I can’t enjoy the new styles of metal coming up from the youth.
I hear ya...but when I check out some of these "new" bands all I hear is something Machines of Loving Grace were doing 20+ years ago. Suicide King
Not a bad comparison, I could see where you’re coming from there. It is true that often the originators of a sound don’t get the popularity and rewards that the followers receive.
Spiritual Beggars - Another Way To Shine (1996) Second album of this Swedish power trio. Sufficiently dirty & groovy. Must be listened to loud.
Per Wiberg- The Serpents Here New solo album from the keyboardist of Spiritual Beggars (and formerly of Opeth).
Yeah, good band. I suppose Michael Amott is too busy with Arch Enemy to have time for this band. Lat album was in 2016... I like both eras, the earlier, more Sabbath/Hendrix power trio with Spice and the later one with keyboards.
