The new RHINO Joni Mitchell "Blue" LP? Yes, it's the one Kevin Gray and I mastered.

  1. Will this also be released in Europe? If not, what shipping costs would I have to expect from e.g. acousticsounds, musicdirect or elusivedisc for shipping to Germany?

I was lucky to get mine yesterday. I thought I might pass on this, but after reading SH's initial post here yesterday, I figured I had to have it. Did not get as much time with it as I would have liked to, however, I can tell you that this is everything it should be. Steve isn't kidding about being able to hear the changes in the microphones. The numbers at the piano have a warmer vocal tone than the other tracks. I think the late Henry Lewy is so underrated as a producer and engineer, and we're lucky to be this much closer to the original vision of this record. The 180g RTI is nice and quiet with no pre-cleaning. I am all about this, and would strongly urge you all to grab it.

For those in the San Diego area, I'm guessing the folks at Lou's Records in Encinitas will stock it. I was going to buy it there, but It's a 45 minute drive from where I live. I got lazy and ordered it from Acoustic Sounds instead...:p

Mine shipped yesterday from Music Direct. Not my favorite Joni album but Steve already did that with Court. Nice to have it both on CD and LP to compare the new straight transfer to the CD version. Now if Rhino would hand over the Ry Cooder Catalog to Steve!

This may be common knowledge that has just slipped past me somehow, but do we have a list by mixing-date order of all the songs on Blue?

    I know! It's a -1 too! On both sides.

    Anyway, back to Joni....

I can't wait to listen to this one tonight. I'm assuming the original release of Blue came with the "Blue Poster"? It's a nice touch for the reissue but why is the poster just blue all the way through?! :p

    Hey Jason,
The original Reprise lp came with a blue inner sleeve. The new Rhino comes in a nice poly sleeve but they included the "poster" to replicate the old inner, I'm thinking.

Okay, cool. That's why the "poster" was wrapped around the sleeve. :righton:

Thank you for the info! That explains a lot since both CD versions sound wrong to me, one very muffled, the other very bright.

I wonder if the same or similar problems exist with Trespass, Elton John and Led Zeppelin III. http://stevehoffman.tv/forums/showthread.php?t=60997
