The Monkees versus Jethro Tull? I don't get it. Why not Ian Flemming versus James Joyce? I dont see any connection between these artists.

edit: oh, I see your two favorite bands. Well, Tull, I guess. Both are bands I have to be in the mood for.

I agree with the point made above about who plays what. My appreciation of a band hinges on based on the quality of the recordings and performances produced by that entity, not on whether the people doing the writing and playing are the same ones as those who get their picture on the album cover,

    Who toured longer?
    Who has more albums?
    Who has had more concerts?
    Who has been around longer?
Who didn't need a tv show?
Who really looks like a band?
Who has an album put out on DCC?
Who didn't have screaming little kids watch and listen to them?

Not one bit of criteria I ever consider when judging the merits of a bands music.

  16. I agree.

The Monkees are one of the of the greatest bands of all time. Although Jethro Tull is not one of my faves they are far more than "long boring flute solos".

How did you come to that conclusion?

I love Tull. But I chose The Monkees. I've just always been a Monkees freak! I never thought I'd have to pick between the two though. Of course this is all meaningless fun, yes?
