I used to like Tull when I was a teen. However I have no use for them now(but that's just me. I could list others I used to like but no longer do). I think this Forum has a problem with Pop Music in general. I really don't care who played the instruments if the song cooks. Who the heck what's to here a flute solo anyways? Wasn't that the Tull Gimmick? Wasn't their biggest US hit Bungle In the Jungle? I'll take Circle Sky any day! Aqualung is cool but so played out.

This poll is proof of the fact that "just say no to drugs" did not work.

I know. That's why there are votes for Tull!

  6. Ian always has at least one leg to stand on :D

Ian knows how to play a flute. In the 1990's His own daughter pointed out that his fingering technique was wrong and Ian bit the bullet and learned (and continues to use) the standard flute playing technique. Not that he didn't kick @ss on the flute prior to this, just that his technique was flawed (who really cared?).

David Palmer, now Dee Palmer, was Tull's frequent classical instrument arranger and during the late 70's, their 2nd keyboard player.

If you think this is bad, someone should do Nirvana vs Jethro Tull. Guess who would win that one?

  11. well, the monkees are kinda poor man's beatles as seen by a six year old

Agreed. I can't even be bothered with owning any Monkees. Ian Anderson has shown more talent with a single album than the whole of the Monkees' "œuvre".

I don't hate Jethro Tull, but I just was never that much of a fan. I like, but don't really love, a couple of albums, and love a few songs.
For The Monkees I absolutely love a couple of the albums outright, and like most of the rest- while loving songs on the albums I only like.
And...for me I'd say Mike Nesmith is far more talented than Ian Anderson...and Ian is talented, just not on Mike's level...as I said, not for me.

If the Monkees win the poll, does that mean that they are a better band than Jethro Tull?

I wonder how Steve Hoffman would vote, where is his voice in all this?

It will show the power of TV. Ian Anderson is miles too high for this lowbrow uncultivated scene.

    Aqualung slays the Monkees

One for Aqualung. Snot running down his nose, greasy fingers smearing shabby clothes.

So true. Those Dolenz vocal's were a dead-on Lennon knock-off. And who could imitate George Harrison's voice better than Nesmith? It was eerie. The Beatles' tambourine guy in the front was so much better than Jones. And the synthesizer that the Beatles used all over Sgt. Pepper was than copied and over-used on PAC&J. Yeah, I totally know what you mean. Good thing we see things like a six year old do.
