This got me curious--so I decided to try to figure out what other CDs I've bough in the past year and change.

On Amazon, I came up with:

Tom Petty - Anthology 2-CD set (for my son for Christmas, but we keep it with my CDs. :) )
Muddy Waters - Rollin' Stone: The Golden Anniversary Collection OOP 2-CD set
Donny Hathaway - Someday We'll All Be Free box

    From Amoeba, I remember getting:

    Hector Lavoe - Greatest Hits
Teenage Fanclub - A Catholic Education
The Feelies - Time for a Witness
    U2 - Achtung Baby
    Pearl Jam - Vitalogy
Stevie Ray Vaughan - Couldn't Stand the Weather (orig. edition)
    Probably two or three others.

    From the thrifts I got:
    Neil Young - Greatest Hits
Velvet Crush - Teenage Symphonies to God (which I gave to a friend)
And maybe five or six '90s alt-rock CDs--I know Meet John Doe, Jason Falkner's Can You Still Feel and a few others were in the mix.

And nothing at all from half.com. I used to spend all my time poring over that site ordering stuff!

    Location:

Arcade Fire - Neon Bible, working my way backwards after getting The Suburbs the week it came out (so it wasn't a Grammy bandwagon thing!)

Big Country - The Crossing ('02 remaster), had it on LP when it was new and hocked the vinyl collection around '92...should've gotten this years ago

Robbie Robertson - How to Become Clairvoyant (Best Buy exclusive), snapped it up on release day

Bob Dylan - No Direction Home, by no means a completist here but has plenty of historical value on it

Miles Davis - Complete On the Corner, should've gotten this when it was fresh, and would've saved a few bucks, but $105 new off amazon.ca wasn't bad considering

    ______________

    On deck:

Traffic - John Barleycorn deluxe edition
The Tubes - Completion Backward Principle ('11 remaster)
    Arcade Fire - Funeral
Stevie Ray Vaughn - Texas Flood (MoFi)
Willie Nelson & Wynton Marsalis, featuring Norah Jones - Here We Go Again

  10. 1. Supertramp-Breakfast in America (Deluxe) for the live disc. I've heard some complaints about the Calbi remastered first disc but did anyone honestly expect it to sound better than the Mofi? Come on...part of the problem with this album HAS to do with the equipment used to mix it IIRC. It's never going to sound perfect. This doesn't sound horrible. It ain't perfect either.
    2. Billy Joel-My Lives. Found an inexpensive used copy of this and picked it up for the unreleased demos. I'm not honestly interested in buying "Piano Man" again to get some of the demos. 5 years later it's BETTER than I remember it being for the most part (I heard it when it was released but didn't buy it). Glad I waited to buy it though because I got it used for $20 in excellent shape.
    3. Stevie Wonder-Songs in the Key of Life. AF Despite DJ Wilbur's claim that "no one has raved about it" I HAVE but, well, I guess I'm no one :(
    4. Kinks-Kinks Kontroversy. Is it louder than the PRT? Yes. Is it better sounding? Yes.
    5. Kinks-Kinda Kinks-Ditto.

  13. What do you think of the Simon album? I've read mixed reviews (or head them).

I liked what I heard when it was posted on the web.

I don't know what to make of it yet. When I listen to it I like it but I don't have much of a desire to replay it over and over if that makes any sense?

I really like the new Paul Simon and I've only listened to it twice. There's a lot going on here musically to sink your teeth into all at once; I feel this'll be a major "grower".

It's sonically brilliant and excellent musically.

    Familiar yet fresh!

His best since 1990's "Rhythm Of The Saints" which I loved.
