I have too since reading a Mojo or Uncut article about her. I found US copies of HOL and Kick Inside a month ago -- then today I picked up a UK Kick Inside.

Did you notice a SQ difference?

I thought my UK CDs sounded better than my Canadian CDs - so much so that I purchased the UK box set!

How do the Japanese mini lp cds compare soundwise (compared with ears!) with the original U.K. ones ?

I have the Japanese paper sleeve Never Forever and thought it was thin and bright.

Someone else (on another thread maybe?) thought HOL was good.

Do you like any of the Japanese paper sleeve releases from any artist? Maybe you'd like them.

I only have a few releases but I don't like any of what I have. I was really disappointed in Rick Wakeman's No Earthly Connection.

FYI: I've compiled everything from this thread (as well as several others) onto this page. Could use some help with matrix codes though, particularly in distinguishing values on the glass master with values applied afterwards -- it's not addressed in most of the discussions.

Nice. :) You *could* add total time for each disc and the size (MB) too. Sometimes helps to differentiate identical (or level shifted) masterings.

I noticed that my US copy of “The Dreaming” has not been listed yet. There is a rather pronounced difference in peak levels of tracks 6 & 7 from the rest of the masterings.

Glad everyone likes it. I'm already pushing the limits of what I can squeeze in and keep everything readable but I'm willing to give it a shot.

It'd help to have a bigger sample of the data so I can figure out what information is actually meaningful for distinguishing pressings. The Kick Inside seems to have the most versions floating around so if people could post (or preferably PM me) cuesheets and CUETools reports for whatever pressings of it they have handy, I'll see if I can come up with a better format. Full CUETools logs please, preferably from version 2.0.9!

I just picked up the made in the US cd version of Lionheart and I didn't see it on your web page. It looks like this album might use the same master internationally on cd. Here are the peaks using XLD:

Thanks -- I've added it. What are the label and catalog number as they appear on the spine?

It's really weird that with all the mastering variations out there for her other albums, there really seems to be only one version of Lionheart.

Lionheart is also one of the good ones, fortunately.

My 'EMI SWINDON' copy of Kick Inside has a FAME number on the back insert.. FA 3207. It's the same louder mastering. Spine is the CDP number, as is the disc.

Never upgraded my "The sensual world" cassette; this one was released in the USA on the Columbia label..many cheap copies on Amazon. How does it compare to the Euro Emi disc? Many thanks in advance:)

I'd like to pick up a copy of The Sensual World on CD and an amazon search results in what looks like 3 different versions:

    http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_s...d&x=0&y=0&sprefix=kate+bush+the+sensual+world

Can someone enlighten me on the sonic differences? It looks like the '08 version has an additional track, which I could take or leave I suppose, but I just need to know which one to get.

Hounds of Love, on the other hand, seems as if it were only issued the one time, is that about right? These are the only two entire albums of hers I'm interested in getting for now.

There seems to be 3 different matrix numbers for The Kick Inside CP35-3045 Black Triangle version I have ever seen (you can add more if you know about them) :

    CP35-3045 6A1
    CP35-3045-5 1A1
    CP35-3045 11 [Manufactured by CBS/Sony Records Inc.]

First two are Toshiba pressings and the last one is from Sony pressing plant.
Right? Or all of them are Sony pressings? Is there anyone who can check the last matrix from Sony pressing if it is the same mastering as other from Toshiba?

Does anyone here find the fidelity of the Jpn 'This Woman's Work' box a disappointment? I'm personally pretty happy with it (no, it does not sound quite like the UK vinyl)

Hopefully you'll one day get to hear 'Never For Ever' and 'The Dreaming', her two best records (by a mile).

You mean that uk vinyl is better by your last statement? Or just my misunderstanding. (I'm not a native English speaker so sorry for that)
If yes can you tell us some of your impressions from listening, comparisons?

I greatly enjoy both Never For Ever (in particular, Babooshka, Delius, All We Ever Look For, Breathing etc.) and The Dreaming (favorite tracks-Sat in Your Lap, Suspended in Gaffa, There Goes a Tenner, All the Love and more) too. But, Hounds of Love's still my favorite Kate Bush album. Actually, you can't go wrong with any of Kate's 1980's albums.
