No,I NEVER said that.Usually I prefer lets say regarding the Stones the 90s Virgin over the 80s cd but I prefer the 90s Virgin over the '09 remasters which seem too compressed.Same with Echo and The Bunnymen-the 80s Sire cds sound muddy to me with no bass.I like the remaster I have of Ocean Rain and The Ballyhoo import comp.I don't think I'd like the latest remasters though.

Finally part of a post I can agree with. I do prefer a well mastered disc, CD or SACD:cheers:

OK. The Sticky Fingers 1st Press CBS sounds 1 class better than the 94 Remaster. You agree with me?

No-I don't like 80s cds as a whole as I said I like the better detail 90s versions offered (usually due to better Analog to digital convertors used).

Tom, if you can find a decent priced Japan Echo & the Bunnymen (32XD) Ocean Rain grab it. It is far better than the WG original.

What do folks think of the Ornette Coleman The Shape of Jazz to Come SHM-SACD? The only version I have is the original U.S. Atlantic CD, which sounds good. How does the SHM-SACD compare?

I have the original US Atlantic CD and the SHM-SACD sounds better to me. More open & alive. Tonality of the discs are very similar though. I thought the Atlantic CD was good enough, but took a punt on SACD because it's in my top 20 favorite Jazz albums. I can't imagine pulling out the CD to listen to anymore.

    Thanks, hutchy. Much appreciated.

Any other opinions on The Shape of Jazz to Come?
