    Stereo. Perfect Pop/Art Rock music.

The mono Walrus is no match for the stereo. It annoys me how they took Ringo's drums out at ridiculous moments. If I don't hear it go from stereo to reprocessed stereo in the middle, it loses tons of personality for me.

Having said all that, the mono MMT EP is an interesting listen.

    Stereo.

This album (sorry, EP) is the most colourful in the Beatles catalogue...the mono version(s), while still fantastic, seem marginally less so (to me).

I don't remember. I'll give the Compact Disc EP Collection discs a listen tonight.

Gotta go with the stereo for this one (overall).

Flying is great in stereo. I really dislike Your Mother Should Know in mono. The stereo part of Walrus is very cool as well. For the rest of the tracks I can go either way.

The track listing is different on the LP. Here is the EP: http://allmusic.com/album/magical-mystery-tour-ep-r820707

    Magical Mystery Tour

    Your Mother Should Know

    I Am the Walrus

    The Fool on the Hill

    Flying

    Blue Jay Way

Absolutely. The balances on the mono Magical Mystery tour mixes aren't right. Sounds like a couple of 20-something kids came in and messed up the engineer's perfectly good mix.

I must admit as much as I love the EP's, the tracklisting works best as:

    Magical Mystery Tour

    The Fool on the Hill

    Flying

    Blue Jay Way

    I Am the Walrus

    Your Mother Should Know

I think it was all 'experiemental' in those days and they were trying way out things etc, remember The Beatles were a couple of 20-something kids, so you have kinda answered your own statement:laugh:

Take out the extra space. It is now a US Capitol LP side.

EDIT: Wait a sec. How did "Mother" get to the end? :D

US Capitol also got it right with "Rubber Soul."

It does make a difference to the listener if you grew up with side one of the US LP and then hear the EP, especially the CD version with all six tracks in order, no vinyl to flip.

I guess they felt "I Am The Walrus" is the best song to send side 1 or the EP and side 1 of the LP. With the EP compact disc, it is just stuck in the middle.

I'll compare mono and stereo mixes tonight. I *think* I prefered the stereo last time. I like the bus coming out of the speaker at an angle.

It's not so much that they got it right with Rubber Soul as they didn't get it wrong. The UK version is good in and of itself, but the changes that Capitol made gave it a very interesting character without ruining the flow.

Well I would lhave liked to had a copy of the ep set,and all the Beatles cds to have
bonus tracks,so the Only thing I would need of the American Lp would be the sleeve

I really don't get the love of Mono ,and this group seems to go nuts over it ,sure some things
are worth having ,But a Good Stereo recording sounds better to me,and while I have the
mono box ,I play the Stereo most of the Time

If you have some wonderful Stereo recording of the Surfer girl LP ,why would you want
    old mono
Since most of My Favorite Lps are in Mono Only ,I can say that

Just found a beautiful UK mono copy of the EP at a huge boot fair last weekend for about $20... I'm very happy!

Twenty bucks was a steal! All I have is a mono copy ( a NM copy at that ) and I love it but thanks to this thread I decided I had to have a stereo copy too. I found one and it's now on the way.
