Could be but note the working method during the era was to mix the basic instrumental track to mono and then copy it to 1 track of an 8 track to free up tracks for vocal overdubs.

I believe the tracking sessions with the Crew were 4-track, once he had the 'best' take he would get the balence (mix) perfect and take it to Columbia and focus on the vocals overdubs. Point being the mono Child likely (but not certainly) represents the mix of the basic track Brian was happy with.

I would have liked to have cantina and all that under one roof, if only for consistency of sound quality and such. And what of the Smile novice who decides to take a crazy plunge head first into the box and isn't familiar with such things? And what is this "iTunes" you speak of?

A *lot* strange. Hopefully whoever was contracted to design/build that site at least knows they were recycling an idea from us, and feels just a *wee bit guilty* about it.

Y'know, about as guilty as WE felt using the Frank Holmes artwork without permission and all...!

What, no Magic Kingdom shoppe? I think BW's people are giving his outstanding Disney album the short end of the stick!

HA HA! Well, again, they're just appropriating our appropriation, but still!

Obviously that proves that it was a GOOD IDEA, at least!!

Yeah, and unlike your site the BW message board is full of emotionally unbalanced lunatics.

I would take it as a high compliment, if indeed the web designer was aware of your site. You have to admit though, the idea is pretty obvious.

I like to think that our emotional lack-of-balance was at least COOLER than theirs!!

Oh, well, SURE, but it didn't seem obvious in like 1998 when Flash was a new thing!

Absolutely. I know that Brian tracked and then submixed to 1 track with a mono result in mind. I just couldn't think of any other reason to have mixes like that hanging around. We DO know that this project changed direction so many times that it is completely fathomable that Brian made mixes to take home, evaluate, play for his dinner guests, etc.

I wasn't knocking the WAY you used the idea, just suggesting that the idea of using the storefront motif to enter was a no-brainer ... you get credit for doing it first! :righton:

To be fair it is different. Yours says "click to enter" above the graphic and their door doesn't open. :)

I remember we DID ask Frank's permission to make sure it was okay for us to use it!

Brian's page is damn cool though. Them little people all movin' around and such. Not fair, though, since his people had access to the original elements and was able to fly them in better, whereas Jon had to do it the Purple Chick way.

I don't know what I'm talking about anymore.
