SACDs $11.00 at SonyMusicStore

I really have nothing against Sony. The main reason I probably won't order again is that I didn't see anything else that interested me. That's all.

Apparently the initial SACD mark downs were even lower than Sony Music expected - since the SACDs were increased in price (from $10.98 to $13.98) towards the end of the sale !

 

Has Sony completely given up on the SACD format?
An music engineering friend of mine, said that all of Sony's Technical Staff have moved over to Blu-Ray, Sony's new Hi-Def DVD Format.
Naturally I just picked up my first SACD Player in November.
I hope I'm able to use it for at least a couple of years.

 

Well, Sony Qualia introduced a new high end SACD System at CES this past weekend (Qualia 007) and Sony Electronics plans several new SACD players in the Spring. So I'd say that the work on SACD continues on.

 

Great, lets hope there's some software to go with that new hardware!

 

odered 1/4...just shipped today...wow....

 

My order shipped yesterday UPS, so I have a tracking number. It is scheduled for delivery Monday - and that is a holiday where I work!!! That means I will be home to crack open the box and start listening right upon delivery.

 

My boat load of $8.78 SACDs shipped today!!!

They charged me tax, but no shipping. 20 SACDs (one double) for less than $200 delivered is a STEAL!!!

 

SAVEAMEX worked for tonight...so it is still good...

 

My discs arrived safe and sound on the 13th, two days after receiving shipping confirmation.

 

Any other thoughts on really great Sony classical SACD's??? They are still a deal on the site....

 

Sckott- is it a dual layer SACD or single.

I own all except the Bowie, and I think they are excellent and well worth having, especially at the discount prices being discussed here. You can't go wrong with any of these, although I do recall some differing opinions on the Stardust SACD. I think it's at least as good as the old Mastersound disc, perhaps even a bit smoother. The Santana disc is a particular favorite of mine.

I ordered from the Sony Music Store, got standard shipping (no tracking number provided). I got a shipping notice on Jan. 12, and haven't yet received it. It's coming up on three weeks now since it shipped... do you think this is just really slow shipping or a problem?

 

It sounds as if there is a problem. I'd call or send an e-mail to customer service. Once I got a shipping notice I always received the package within a week. I've ordered four times all with Standard shipping. Once it took more than a week until they actually shipped, but once shipped the package always arrived within a week.

 

I'll add another vote for the Santana Abraxas SACD. I've now accumulated dozens of the Sony non-hybrid SACDs - they are wonderful almost without exception! - and Abraxas still had the ability to wow me with its depth of soundfield and 3-dimensionality qualities.

I was browsing over at the online Sony Music Store and noticed that they're running a sale.....10% off (including sale items) with the coupon code of JUNESALE and free shipping if order is over $25.00. I noticed some of Sony's SACD are on sale at $13.98, and with the 10% off, they come to $12.58/each. The 2-disc "The Sopranos" comes to $22.48. And the 2-disc SACD of "War of the Worlds" is only $17.08. Hmmm.....not bad.

Any other discounts available?
