Granted, Mick generally has better options for time-spending than us mortals.

The only one I'm not crazy about was the Some Girls remaster. The sound to me is very solid state, digital and hard sounding.

As I said above, I find them way too harsh, but I love what he did with the Abkco remasters in 2002. Those were also done with what he called at the time an attempt to respect the "spirit" of the original albums so I hope he does the same with these new ones. That statement about removing hard edges and without losing the feel of the original masters has me hoping he'll approach these the same way he did in 2002.

Remastered by the same guy? That's odd isn't it?

Yep. That could be either very bad (RL does them like Memory Almost Full) or very good (RL does them like the Abkco Stones).

The promo discs have been out for a few weeks. I can't believe samples of the tracks haven't been posted/leaked. I've heard Sticky Fingers sounds very good. 4 more days until release...

Lets hope the levels are not boosted. I have a gut feeling that these discs will sound good.

I do have a complete set of the originals and remasters and listen to both sets.

You can't blame Bob for Memory Almost Full. It sounded like doody when he received the files.

I love the MFSL vinyl of Sticky Fingers---not sure how much they jacked with EQ but it's WORLDS apart from the Virgin CD i have.
I also love my vinyl Exile that I picked up for $1 in the budget bin--not sure of the pressing (1970s) but it beats the hell out of the 80s cd even though it's not close to mint condition.

Levels boosted on the 2009 remasters in your opinion?

The clips have that driving bass and fullness that gives me a headache.

That's the problem. We don't know if these are ripped directly from the CDs, boosted further for digital download by Ludwig or by some anonymous webmaster to his specific taste.

Yeah, that's what he's told people but too many of Ludwig's recent masterings have all that that same overloaded "sandpaper cymbal" sound to me.
