Am I the only one who thinks they chose the wrong producer to work with for this album? Regardless, there are some VERY solid songs on the album. I guess I'm just not a huge fan of "mellow" Kooks. :shake:

The Kooks: I only heard 2 new songs yesterday on the radio and an interview. They said they wanted "a poppier" album this time. That explains the mellow, soft sound I'd guess.

You can win the album here: The Kooks album contest

    Fill in:

Antwoord (Answer): 12 (question: how many tracks are on the album?)
    Voornaam + naam: your name
Straat + Nummer: your address (street & number)
Postcode + Plaatsnaam: zip code, city, country
    Leeftijd: your age
    Telefoonnumer: phone number
    E-mail adres: your e-mail address

That's all you have to do.

It's not a bad album and I tend to like it but it doesn't stick out for me like the first two do. (I entered the contest)

Seems like it was released in their country Australia back in 2010, but was a radiohit this summer in Belgium:

    Miami Horror: Holiday

Fantastic album! I had to import the EP and album online due to domestic unavailability.

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds: The Death Of You And Me

Thumbs up for Miami Horror! Some nice "feelgood" dancemusic coming from Australia the past 5 years.
Waiting for a second "Empire of the Sun"-album right now. No news yet?

The first 5 songs on the Empire of the Sun were great -- the first 4 songs are perfect. The rest of the album was a disappointment and sounded nothing like the first 5 songs. Boring world music approach.

When the second album drops I hope they go for a more indie pop theme all the way through, unlike last time.

A classic song but a "2011 Live version".

dEUS at Lowlands, their concert was a tribute to the Pukkelpop-victims covered by the dutch National TV and afterwards also broadcasted on the Belgian TV.

dEUS and their 1999 classic Instant Street

    The original videoclip

This one gets loads of airplay on the radio lately:

Gypsy & The Cat: Jona Vark

A bit of 80's, a bit of Empire of the Sun, a bit of MGMT, etc.

Edit: Forgot I posted this one before.

    Broken Glass Heroes: Delphonic

From their album "Grandchildren of the Revelation", which sounds great (no loudness wars).

In fact, they're not a real band but two musicians who made this album as a soundtrack for the tv-series "Benidorm Bastards".

Full of nostalgic 60s & 70s sounds: from Beach Boys and Beatles and Moody Blues to the more psychedelic stuff.

    One of the 2011 hypes:

Little Dragon: Ritual Union (live at Jools Holland)

The scandinavian popscene keeps us surprising over and over again! Catchy as hell, and very radiofriendly.

Mr. Know It All ~ Kelly Clarkson

    Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0C_oNMH0GTk

I love that Clarkson and director Justin Francis used the video to kill two birds with one stone.
The song itself is about a misinformed individual, but the clip takes a swipe at the media and blogosphere.
The video features Clarkson singing behind a wall full of newspaper articles about her music career and personal life.
The video continually cuts to Clarkson confronting a man (band member Aben Eubanks) as a metaphor for "Mr. Know It All" by singing angrily at him.
The lyrics itself are powerful, but her meaningful looks into the camera and bold demand for independence really help to drive the message home.

By the way, here are seven recent live versions of "Mr. Know It All" to help drive home the point that this chick is the most powerful vocalist in the biz...
