Pink Floyd - what remasters?

    I just compared three copies I own: The Mastersound Gold (cdr copy unfortunately), the Harvest UK silverface and the US early (first?) version, which is the same mastering as the 2nd JPN pressing.

    I like the US version better than the UK, and in some respects the Mastersound. The steel guitar way in the bg around the 2:20 mark of "Wish You Were Here" (cut 4) is much more prominent on the US, and the sound is overall more "dry" and well balanced. However, the Mastersound seems to have been goosed, which makes for a more powerful presentation, but tends to overwhelm the suble elements of the recording. The UK Harvest, the one I've been listening to for about 2 decades, is anemic compared to the two others. The two-track version is still my grail....
