Yes, hadn't realized there were two sets of each, an Experience and an Immersion.

I bet you can get a lot of audio on a blu-ray. 5 discs is a lot, that's the two Experiences plus a further 3.

Hmm still, $100+ in a set sounds like extracting cash. More so if there's no individual release later.

I'm hoping the Stockholm 67 concert shows up on a future Immersion or Experience set for Piper at the Gates of Dawn or Saucerful of Secrets.

Now could EMI please give us a track listing for the Smile box???

  5. I wonder if there's any bonus material on the new "regular" issues of the other albums?

I'm guessing probably not, but it sure would be amazing if there was!!

A soundboard from the 77 tour would be epic

There are a lot of extras shown in the Dark Side set. I could probably do without the scarf or the table coasters, but they're there and they're going to boost the cost.

Looks like they'll be getting a lot of money from me on these. So looking forward to them.

Has ChrisM had his heart attack yet? If this is true, all I know is that I've just outdone Fred Sanford.

Yeah, that would be great! In that recent article, it mentioned that it might be officially released. If this release is legit, makes a tun of sense.

Its kind of cool to find out about this today as my favorite unreleased show was performed exactly 34 years ago today -- May 9, 1977 ("Animal Instincts" in Oakland) and I saw them (Waterless) exactly 1/2 of that time ago, that is, 17 years ago today - May 10, 1994 - in Raleigh, NC.

Magical nights to look back on, and now there is so much to look forward to...

  15. This is all so frickin' fortuitous!! - because I'm JUST starting to get back into Floyd again, a good almost 20 years after my first Floyd phase (back in college circa 1987/88/89).

I've been flirting with a full-on Floyd revival for 2 or 3 years now (picking up 'dollar-bin' copies of all the Waterless "Floyd 2.0" material (just for the hell of it), and finally getting "On and Island" some 3-4 years after it came out, and also GdaƄsk. I also re-purchased both Gilmour solo albums a couple years ago, not having heard either of them since the mid-90's.

Bought my first ever copy of Saucerful two years ago (though I'm sure I had a tape of it back in the late 80's). Found a cheap copy of the "Early Singles" disc from Shine On (used, only $8!) - just 2 months ago!! Repurchased really cheap, used copies of More, Obscured, and Meddle too ($5-$6 each) -- but only in the last 2-3 years.

And actually, I think the thing that REALLY got me re-interested in Floyd again was discovering Les Claypool's live remake of the entire Animals album. Animals was ALWAYS my favorite Floyd album, though I hadn't listened to it too much in the last 15 years. Claypool's remake really opened my ears up to Floyd again.

    Hey Norm,
If they do one of the Immersion sets for Animals, I am really hoping that Oakland '77 will be a part of the box.
People, I am really looking forward to when EMI puts out the press releases for these titles. We've got to get that stuff posted here as soon as they get put out to the public.

    First thoughts:
    1. What?
    2. Wow!
    3. Oh, I can't afford those Immerse sets
    4. What should I get?
    5. How can I convince my wife that I need all of these?

Geez, I hope so...I've heard dozens of their live renditions of "Money" from over the years, but nothing comes remotely close to the version performed that night. Out of this world. They were just on fire throughout the whole show.

  20. Somehow I have a hunch there may NOT be any "Immersion" box for Animals, since they've included "Raving & Drooling" and "You Gotta Be Crazy" on both WYWH releases (even the simple double-disc version of WYWH).

But I'd sure love it if they did! As I said, Animals is my all-time favorite Floyd album.

Though perhaps it just hasn't been uploaded yet. There's just a place-holder for the big Wall "Immersion" box (technically it's listed as "coming soon" - or something like that). Maybe they haven't even gotten that far uploading an Animals box.

It could go either way. Most of the time, the entire run of PF albums, from Dark Side through The Wall, is cited as their "classic" period. Then again, I've never heard anything from Animals on classic rock radio nearly as much as "Have a Cigar" or "Welcome to the Machine". So maybe not.

How much compression/limiting in sound will these releases have? :sigh:

Do you think these will target the audiophile community?

It would be cool if they did the Experience treatment with the whole catalog (one bonus disc). I'm not expecting Immerse Sets from any other albums than DSOTM, WYWH and The Wall, but then again; I didn't expect this!

THIS is why I was woke from a sound sleep !?!?!?! This has happened a few times in my life...cool.

Just preordered both Immersion boxes (DSOTM / WYWH)...:goodie:

I'm not worrying about SQ...when has Doug Sax / James Guthrie let us down before ????
