    You like the eMPty3 format?

Seems like a very sweet animal...... I must wait for the European version I guess. I'd like a modded player who can fix all regions for BD and DVD as well. :righton:

I will place my order as soon as possible. Hopefully, the forum members going to CES will be able to report back on the sound quality. I was going to get a 83SE of Audiogon, and Dan Wright modify it. I'll wait now, and then have him modify the 95.

It is unlikely the BDP-95 will be at CES. If it shows up anywhere, it would be on static display.

That's a bummer. Sam, will you have a chance to preview the player before it's released?

The BDP-93 is keeping me plenty busy

Regarding the BDP-95, I'm not sure at this point. Lately I've leaning towards using my universal/Blu-ray players as transports only, to my processor.

  17. Will Oppo be replacing the discontinued BDP-80 with anything at that price point/features?

    Nothing has been announced.

The BPD-80 was kinda in a "no man's land" for features/price. Too expensive to compete with the $150 Sonys/Samsungs/Pioneers, but not quite the audio/video performance leader to go head to head with the $400-$1000 Denon/Marantz models.

Your processor? What make/model is this? What DAC?

  20. Wasnt it the best universal player going at that price?

    Denon AVP-A1HDCI A/V processor.

You can read about the DAC design/architecture in this PDF starting on page 12.

I've decided bitstream to the Denon is better than the BDP-83SE analog output. I have not heard the BDP-95 yet.

Sure, but that doesn't mean it was a huge sales success. A lot of folks wanted to upgrade analog sound from their previous $200-1000 DVD/SACD/DVD-A players, and went straight to the BDP-83 or SE version.

The BDP-80 was like an entry-level player (sound-wise) for SACD/DVD-A. But in 2010, not many are still looking for entry level or "first" SACD/DVD-A player. All IMO, of course.

Interesting. I suppose the Denon must beat your Transporter too.

Will be looking forward to BDP-95 reviews in 2011.

I am looking for an SACD player mainly as a transport. How do you guys like your Oppo's
? This BDP-95 has the advantage of playing BD, DVD, SACD, CD...etc...plus a SOTA DAC! WOW...

You can't use the BDP-95 (or any of the OPPOs) as a standalone or USB DAC. In other words, it has not ability to accept any digital input.

You could use the UPnP features to access audio files elsewhere on your home network, but this is very clunky and I don't recommend it for this purpose.

    Hey Sam

I am wanting the Oppo to use as primarily an SACD player. I already have a nice DAC in my preamp. Can I feed the pure SACD digital info from the Oppo into the DAC on my preamp?

If this will work I would have a nice BD player to boot.
