Quite an interesting listen. Audio from Nonetheless listening party 22nd April 2024. Dropbox - Nonetheless Listening Party + Q&A – 22 April 2024.mp3 - Simplify your life
Thanks for sharing this! It's almost surreal to think the new album is just a few days away. It sparked a wave of nostalgia this morning, reminding me of a time when I'd religiously visit record stores on release days, fingers crossed they'd have the new album or single in stock. That anticipation, that physical search, became a cherished ritual, woven into the very fabric of my life. While pre-ordering online is undeniably convenient, there was a magic to pre-internet record shopping that can't be replicated and that I still miss.
Yes for a change its one of their better NME interviews. However in the Q and A Neil refers it as their lockdown album.
Hope everyone that bought the cd went for the deluxe edition with the furthermore EP. Those new versions of "Heart.", "Being boring", "Always on my mind", and "It's a sin" are fun.
Amazon brought the Blu-ray a day early — the tunes are strong, the Atmos mix is immersive, and Neil’s voice remains an ageless marvel. Now I want other PSB albums in Atmos…
Are the extra tracks only available on the physical stuff? I'm looking for hi-res downloads of the complete package.
After one listen to the new album I can say: glorious! I got a much better first impression of this album than Hotspot, which was a bit of a disappointment. Nonetheless features good production values with wonderful orchestral arrangements throughout. The songwriting is on a higher level this time. I think it is most similar to Fundamental of their previous albums, and just like that album maybe the new one could have a few more uptempo tracks. I can't wait to hear the album again (and again and again...)
I felt more like Fundamental, but yes there are elements of Elysium too. Not disappointed with the sound of the album this time!
The two Swedish reviews I've read so far have given the album 3/5. It's fine, but compared to their two latest releases the new one deserves a higher rating I think! Definitely a 4 from me, although I've only listened twice.
Another interview. They are really getting around this time… Pet Shop Boys: 'We should call our next tour Farewell'
They certainly are, and always entertaining and erudite. This one from U.S. magazine People is quite funny.
