Ragged Glory is one of my favorite records. Where is that all-analog Ragged Glory mentioned a while back?
I was hoping that was what this would be. Who the heck needs a re-recording when the original was perfect to begin with?!
although they are playing a bit loose with this, it was recorded at the Rivoli in Toronto at a private $$$ gig, live, in late 2023.
As it’s been discussed for 2 days now in several other Neil threads, I wasn’t expecting a dedicated thread as well. Pre ordered the clear vinyl from the Greedy Hand earlier.
And, for some unaccountable reason, he’s chosen to rename the songs too! But hey, it’s Neil, unaccountable reasons are his specialty…
September 1990 - Neil Young + Crazy Horse release the album Ragged Glory with 10 tracks July 2023 - Neil Young + Crazy Horse re-release the album Ragged Glory as a digital download; it's re-titled Ragged Glory Smell The Horse and includes the original 10 tracks and 4 bonus tracks [Interstate, Don't Spook The Horse, Boxcar, Born To Run] April 2024 - Neil Young + Crazy Horse plan to re-release the album Ragged Glory; people on the forum say the tracks were re-recorded; a Neil's Archives website email mentions something about the track Farmer John Does anyone know why this new release includes only 9 tracks rather than 10? I'm posting this on the other thread; not everyone knows about this thread
Someone on the other thread answered my question above; that person reminded me that Fu##in' Up is 9 tracks from the Neil Young + Crazy Horse live performance at the Rivoli in Toronto, Canada on Nov 4 2023; and track #10 Mother Earth is not included
I don’t think that’s the word you’re looking for, he’s the artist he only has to be accountable to himself regarding his music.
this does not excite me that much. i appreciate the later day crazy horse and the last few albums ( i listened a bit) but nothing i would consider buying. i am still hoping for a stand alone vinyl of ragged glory with don't spook the horse( i do have this song on the 3 song CD that came out a while back and it's a great "lost" track). and of course and anxiously awaiting my copy of DUME to arrive!
I for one am really looking forward to this. Obviously someone at the record companies have decided that it’s possible to get more sales if an album is marketed as “re recordings” rather than a live album. this is a show no one on this forum has heard at all (unless they are a close friend of the Canada Goose CEO) so it’s refreshing that a live album is coming out and everyone is going into it with fresh ears, not able to compare with boots etc I’m trying to work out why there is so much negativity regarding this. So far I’ve got 1. Poncho isn’t on it 2. Micah is on it 3. It’s not [insert another anticipated Neil release] 4. Neil can’t sing anymore! I’d much rather have this than another 1971 release
