Just waiting for the pre-order announcement.

  2. I think they decided to do this because "TBBTM" sold unexpectantly well and that they had actually shot most of their wad with the previous set (thinking it might be the last). This isn't quite as enticing as the previous set but it looks interesting.

I didn't even look at the price when I said

Hopefully RH will ship things on a first come first served basis unlike last time, especially if that's the only way to get those bonus 45 tracks.

It is utterly worthless without a fourth disc containing the unedited "Pinball Machine."

I went with free shipping and had no problem. Was there a problem?

I'm very, very excited and will be getting it as soon as it's possible to have it.

(It would have been nice to see the Carole King demo of Porpoise song on it, but maybe that was unavailable or too badly damaged, as it was an acetate)

This Fall 2010 Reissue/Archive season is turning out to be a monumental one for me. Nuclear-sized hole in the wallet, anyone?:D Yeah, I'm in.

I will be getting this one for sure. Sounds great. Hopefully Rhino Handmade will continue to release the rest of the albums (Instant Replay and Present). Hopefully Head will sell enough to justify finishing the series in 2011.

Yep, my thinking also. Same price as the BB&M box set (that I love) only the Head Deluxe has an interview CD - a bit of a disappointment as it sounds like filler to me. Wish that 3rd disc was filled with something, anything else - or not included so the set might be a few bucks cheaper.

Still, gotta look at the positives and what we are getting. Thanks to Andrew and Rhino for this!

Have previous Rhino Handmade Monkees sets been available internationally? I now live in the UK. I've seen the first 2 deluxe editions (pre-Rhino handmade) in the shops, but that's it ...

Too. Many. Reissues. And yet I'm loving every minute of it.

Looking at the old CD of this (which I don't have)--is that the only place to get the original mix of "Happy Birthday to You"? I'm not generally a super-completist when it comes to barely different alternate mixes, but considering that the original is available for just $4.99 on the Rhino site, I could go for it. On that note, I've always wondered and with the glut of alternate mixes and modified titles, is there anything on the 90s CDs that isn't available on the deluxe editions? I have the three Missing Links discs but by the time I wanted to delve into the original albums, the deluxe editions were available.

Yep. Swordfish in Birmingham definitely stocked them.

The Davy Jones disc is not interview filler but an actual promo disc that was issued to radio stations at the time to promote the movie. I have a press book on the movie 'Head' and it had a picture of the promo disc and it turns out that it's one of the rarest Monkees records around. At the time Ed, who's has the best Monkees collection of anyone to my knowledge, didn't have a copy of this record. And that's a major statement if HE didn't have it! (He might have one now. Let us know, ED).

To finally get this disc along with the live tracks and other goodies will make this little Monkee fan a happy camper!

The live tracks are the big seller for me. Of course, I'm in (I have had some $$ stashed away from my wife for several months just waiting for this to surface). If the packaging is even half as nice as the BB&M set, it will be well worth it. Let's make sure this one sells well enough for the series to continue

I thought the live tracks were captured without vocals? I wonder??? Ron

PS Count me in no matter what. :)

That's what we thought (like the Phoenix concert), however Andrew Sandoval's interview that had with Mike Nesmith had some of the Salt Lake City Concert playing in the backround, and you can hear vox on it. Maybe not studio quality, but it must be decent enough to hear the vox.

Nope I don't have one although one was up on Ebay not to long ago that went for mega bucks. I wouldn't be surprised if that one was used for this set. Glad to see they included it.

Would also like to see a mini reproduction of the HEAD press book included.

I'm totally on board with this along with the BR version of HEAD also coming out the end of this year.

Did anyone else get the impression that the DVD/Blu Ray was part of a compilation of other films of the 68-72 era? I hope you can buy it individually.

Not looking forward to trying to source this long-distance without paying a small fortune, given Rhino's general mail order incompetence (after months of trying the website to get the BBM Handmade, had to order by phone, got somebody who sounded like a trainee who took literally 25 minutes to take my order, promised shipping confirmation never happened, etc. etc. etc.). However, I'm in for sure.

Funnily enough, I was just listening to Instant Replay the other day and thinking that it was a much better album than I remembered, so roll on the next Handmade album project!
