Best wishes to your wife, Brad. I hope she'll get better soon. Cardiac problems are a nuisance, I know what I'm talking about. By the way, that J.J. Johnson Mosaic is excellent.
I dressed like that for years, from c. 1969 or so until the late '70s, my own statement on 'fashion, and its followers.' I'd guess that I've likely spent more than $1,000, but way less than $2,000, on clothing in my entire life since I was a teen, cumulatively, less than I've spent on music in any given year since then most likely, because music is way more important to me. When it comes to clothing, if I'm comfortable, and I'm not gonna get arrested for exposure, that's good enough.
Thanks all. She was operated on in 2020 for valve leakage but she seems to have the issue again so we’ll have to see what today’s test shows.
I would like an expanded version much more than the extended reissue featuring single versions of a very few tracks. I am sure that from those European sets of late autumn 1976 there is much interesting stuff. YouTube's clips of the period are well enough explanatory.
A fairly recent add for me. At first the gospel choir "vocals" were offsetting to me but I have become use to them and enjoy the album more with each listen... Donald Byrd – A New Perspective
And a very good organization. If one is looking for a charity to donate to this one is very legit and does good work we can all appreciate.
NP Paul Desmond - First Place Again (Warner Bros.) stereo gold label @Bradd sorry to hear of your wife’s situation. I hope everything works out for her.
Some were collected on side 2 of a 'blink and you've missed it' Europe-only CBS album in the 1980s. Side 1 being the IoW performance from 1970. B1 Great Expectations 2:42 B2 The Little Blue Frog 2:32 B3 Molester (Part I) 3:04 B4 Molester (Part II) 2:10 B5 Holly-Wuud 2:52 B6 Big Fun 2:30 I have a copy as I presumably thought it looked interesting and snapped it up quick...
Miles Davis - In Person Friday And Saturday Nights At The Blackhawk, San Francisco 2 LP (Impex Records 2012)
NP: Another new to here used CD; had the LP decades ago, but haven't heard this since getting rid of it back then. Vibes and organ make for a relatively unique sound palette overall, and the use of tamborine as the primary 'drum' on the first section of Unhappy Happy Soul before the full kit comes in to bash out the ending but one of the dynamic touches. Johnny Lytle - The Village Caller!
NP Paul Desmond - Glad To Be Unhappy (RCA) mono Dynagroove black label with Nipper at 12 o’clock Such a perfect album. Desmond and Hall together is sublime.
WP: Art Blakey - Drum Suite This is I think an early 2000's Columbia Special Products line of vinyl (not my copy in the photo). Sounds fabulous and I forgot how great Jackie McLean is on side 2. I feel a Blakey listening party is needed soon.
Fingers crossed Brad! Ive witnessed much sucsess with these things lately so positive frame of mind is a little easier to access hopefully
NP: Time for some variety. "I'm a crap shootin' sinner on Saturday night..." Cile Turner Shootin' some dice with St. Peter at the gates. Various - T-Bird Party! - A Swangin' Slew O' Greasy R&B - 1957-61 EDIT: And now back to something a bit more sophisticated, also from the '50s, 1958: Modern Jazz Quartet - Longing For The Continent
