K.D. was/is(?) terrific, always loved her. She once very nearly knocked me down while rounding third in a pickup game of softball. K.D. is one big girl. That's a nice record that right there. Never heard it.
They were pretty good and that "period" of Country I enjoyed immensely. I kinda think of it as the near end of the "real" stuff. Favorite of mine also from that period is Diamond Rio. Geez, they had some great and very well played tunes. Your recent posts have been some best of era type stuff! Here's one from the "beginning of the end" lol. Gold is on a tear lately!
Posted this before, surely. Love it though! If you can't sing harmony to this chorus? You just can't sang!
Thanks. Just happen to be playing Diamond Rio now: I had that Larry Gatlin song on a country compilation record my grandparents bought me.
By my recollection? D-Rio has at least a greatest hits comp in which I knew them all word for word. Great band. That Gatlin track is the only one I hold in that regard. But I don't know much of the Gatlin Bros or Oak Ridge Boys stuff. Except for the "ooom pa pa oom papa oom papa mow mow" basso profundo part that guy sings and how low can you go! hah "Hi oh Silver away"!
That's off an album called Fancy Free. I had the cassette. It's lesser known follow up, "Bobbie Sue": I had it on 45.
Nice rendition of a Kevin Welch song from Kevin’s first album, ‘Kevin Welch’; it’s full of great tunes like this.
Enjoying a nice quiet saturday afternoon moment with some soothing sounds of Brennen Leigh. New name to me, but it seems she has made some waves in these last few years with some quality releases.
Continuing this wonderful country music filled afternoon with this killer live version of a great song by The Country Side of Harmonica Sam:
Unless I've missed it, this thread is over 5 years old, and no mention of Van Morrison's great country release from 2006, PAY THE DEVIL. Excellent covers of some country classics, and a couple of his own thrown in as well. There Stands The Glass, Back Street Affair, Once A Day to name a few. Give it a listen.
I love Tammy and Loretta, but whole box sets can be a bit much. (maybe that's true with every artist, to be honest) I bought the Loretta set on iTunes almost 15 years ago, and I am not sure I ever listened to the whole thing.
In her teen years, Lainey Wilson would perform at children's parties and events as a Hannah Montana impersonator. Often, she would open for herself: "Lainey Wilson" would open for "Hannah", as a way to get her name out there. (how very Folksmen/Tap of her - wonder if that's where she got the idea?)
George's, Tammy's and Loretta's boxes make a great heart singers playlist. Or any one of the boxes makes a great spine from which to build a playlist.
