As much as I'd like to be, I don't think I am.

Here's a picture of the set from Rhino (according to the Elusivedisc.com listing)

And here is the Japanese box set from the www.cdjapan.co.jp listing:

Neither listing mentions the source for the mastering, but the pages for each album on the Japanese web site do. For example, the page for LZI:

I'm afraid I have to agree - this is not a remastering, just another re-packaging a la the Japanese version that just came out.

I do not believe that is a picture of this new set. Both pics are of the Japanese set.

Believe what you want. I'm just posting what I found here:
Here's the http://www.elusivedisc.com/prodinfo.asp?number=WEACD79904. If Rhino posts information to the contrary then you're free to do so as well.

They don't leave anything but superficial scratches.

Zeppelin expert Dave Lewis mentioned a couple of years back that the Japan '72 tapes were considered for a How The East Was Won release. That isn't surprising considering at the time the DVD and HTWWW was released, it was believed this was just the beginning of series of vault releases. True to form, Page hasn't done anything else even with loads of great material still sitting in the vaults for release. It is sad, because there is still a large audience for this material (as the DVD and HTWWW proved).

I'd much prefer Japan '71 over Japan '72. Japan '72 would be similar to How The West Was Won with Plant in worse form.

    Japan 1971 is killer :righton:

Japan 1972 sucks big time. It was actually the first time Robert's voice was going down (and cracking all over the place at some songs) ... and he never really recovered :shake:

Are there any official live releases of LZ doing Physical Graffiti tunes around the time of release?

You get an inner sleeve for those Mini LP's like on a real Vinyl Recording. This protects the disc from scratching.

Clearly the Japan '71 shows are of the highest caliber, but the '72 shows are pretty interesting in parts, particularly the new material from HOTH. It would not suck to have some multitracks released from Japan '72.

    Only on the dvd:

In My Time Of Dying (Earls Court 75)
    Trampled Underfoot (Earls Court 75)
    Kashmir (Knebworth 1979)
    Sick Again (Knebworth 1979)

I'd really would've liked to have Ten Years Gone from Knebworth included.

Page wanted it too. The multitrack of that particular recording was incomplete.
