Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (Blu-ray) - Looked good but I didn't really like it too much. Probably more for the kids. C+/B-

Watching Season 6 of 24 on Blu-ray. I never saw the show broadcast, but damn, it's really good. People have been trying to get me to watch this show for years; I'm glad I finally broke down and started watching it. Terrific show, and cinematographer Rodney Charters' lighting is dynamite.

Zombieland on Blu-ray. Enjoyed this one quite a bit. I was worried as the beginning had some pretty gross scenes. I'm not a big fan of gore so I was glad there wasn't a lot of it the rest of the way. A solid B for me.

I watched The Witched Of Eastwick. Daft irreverence is for me.

    Breakfast Club

This movie gets brought up all the time at work and we end up quoting it all night, so I had to pop it in. It's been a while since I watched it in its entirety.

"Hollywoodland." Was almost really good. Was missing something.

What did ya want, an absolute conclusion? You have several to pick from. I think it's a noir classic, nouveau.

I just finished Practical Magic on BD. It has a great cast and some cute lines here and there but I found it impractical and wanting for magic. The Witches Of Eastwick is on the same double feature disc. It I can return to.

I liked it a lot, it was missing some emotional urgency for me. It's hard to describe, I wanted to like it even more, but it didn't reel me in deeply enough.

I just watched "Ride Lonesome" from the Sony Budd Boetticher box set. I had it in the back of my mind to spin this one up since six months ago when Pernell Roberts passed away and finally got around to it. It's still awesome, but the weird glow around high contrast edges during day for night shots is a little distracting. I heard from no less an authority than Grover Crisp that it is "built in" to the film element and not in any way a video artifact.

    Regards,

Watched Valentine's Day last night (!?!?!?) Not my usual indie/foreign fare but gotta admit it wasn't too bad.

Watched RockNRolla on BD last night. I enjoyed it -- not as much as Snatch or Lock/Stock though.
